Advani 'Modi'fied

The news channels are making the most of the Advani-Modi rift.As a blogger,its my responsibility as well, to make use of this issue.The 24/7 news channels are doing their best and the print media is no exception too, especially The Hindu.Atleast the print media doesn't should 'India needs an answer sirrr",so to that extent we can tolerate print media.

Lal Krishna Advani is making the headlines for all wrong reasons.As expected the media and the congress party(both are kind of same) have turned instant Advani fans.Now they realize the importance of Advani.In 2009 when same Advani was projected as BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate,the media demonized him stating the 1992 incident(Babri Masjid demolition).In 2009 Advani was communal,but when Modi is all set for a bigger role in BJP,Advani became a statesman for the media.

Advani is indeed a statesman in politics.He,along with Mr.Vajpayee,built the party.He joined RSS at a very young age.Advani was a member of  Bharatiya Jana Sangh party founded by Dr.Syama Prasad Mookerjee in 1951.The Bharatiya Jana Sangh was started to counter congress party.But the congress had a wide presence so it was not easy for the Jana sangh to defeat congress.Infact Jana Sangh found it very difficult to make its presence felt.But gradually Jana Sangh started growing.Later on,Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L K Advani became prominent leaders of Jana Sangh.On the other hand,after Mr.Lal Bahadur Shastri's death, Mrs.Indira Gandhi became the powerful congress leader.

 After she became PM,she declared emergency in the year 1975.Advani was an important leader who fought against the emergency.He spent most of the days in jail during emergency.Still he didn't give up.After the emergency was lifted,the Jana Sangh merged itself into Janata Party.Vajpayee was the leader of Jana Sangh then.The Jana Sangh and some other non-congress parties united together and merged in to Janata Party.They fought the elections against congress and got a landslide victory.Advani served as Information & Broadcasting minister in Morarji Desai's govt.But the Janata govt didn't last long.After the Janata govt came down,Vajpayee started the Bharatiya Janata Party and Advani played a great role in establishing the BJP.

In the1984 Lok Sabha elections,the BJP could win just two seats out of 545.Advani started the Ram Janmabhoomi(Temple) movement and went on a 'Ratha Yatra' to gather support for the same.This helped to establish the BJP in most parts of India.After winning a considerable no. of seats in 1989,the BJP gave an outside support to the VP Singh's government.The rise of BJP was unstoppable by then.In 1996 the BJP went on to win 161 seats and became the single largest party.Vajpayee ji became PM for the first time.As usual, other parties,which are saviors of Muslims and Christians, used the secular card to keep the BJP away from power.As the party didn't have the majority(273 MPs support),Vajpayee resigned in 13 days and a highly unstable 3rd front govt,backed by Congress,was formed.

The BJP veterans Atalji and Advaniji,played their cards perfectly and brought regional parties into their alliance and formed the National Democratic Alliance(NDA).In 98,BJP won 182 seats on its own and with the support of other parties in the alliance,BJP formed the govt again and Atalji became Prime Minister for the second time.This again,did not last long.ADMK pulled down the BJP govt in 99.Again Atalji resigned,this time his govt lasted for around 13 months.Again in 99,DMK joined the NDA and BJP came to power.It completed its full term and it was the first non-congress government to complete a full term.Advani was made deputy Prime Minister.

The CBI had charged Advani with hawala charges.It was alleged that he received a bribe of 3.5 million illegal gratification from Jain brothers.To ensure a fair probe,Advani resigned his Lok Sabha MP seat.He faced the inquiry and came out clean.Being a leader of opposition,there is no necessity for him to resign. Nowadays inspite of direct evidences our UPA ministers are not ready to resign,but being an opposition leader,Advani did that.He faced the probe and came out clean.This is a proof that how honest and determined Mr.Advani was.

Inspite of giving a good 5 year govt,the BJP could not come to power again.Several factors like anti-incumbency in Tamil Nadu(against Ms.Jayalalithaa) and AP(against TDP),drought etc worked against BJP.The decline started for them after 2004 Parliament elections.The Congress led UPA came to power and Manmohan Singh was chosen as PM.And till now the party(BJP) failed to inspire the voters.The party has been unfair to Advani on two occasions.One, during 2004 elections.Atalji should have projected Advani as the PM candidate in 2004 itself,which would have given a wider acceptability to Advani among alliances and public.Vajpayee quit active politics after the 2004 elections as the BJP lost.When he(Vajpayee) was so sure of quitting active politics incase of defeat,I don't understand the logic behind projecting him as PM candidate. The idea might be like this, had the BJP came to power in 2004,Atalji could have made Adavni as PM and quit active politics.But that did not happen.

Advani spoke some good words about Mohammad Ali Jinnah - founder of Pakistan.Days after he made this speech,he was forced to resign his party president post.This was the second occasion on which the party was unfair to him.Otherwise both the BJP and this nation has given enough respect to him.In 2009, Advani was BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate.His so called 'secular image' could not stop Naveen Patnaik walking out of NDA.He walked out of NDA stating the BJP is communal force.The likes of Nitish Kumar and Sharad Yadav,didn't speak much against  Naveen Patnaik.Well,he achieved this secular image only after Modi's elevation.In 2009,according to our media, even Advani was a communal force due to his alleged involvement in bringing down the Babri Masjid.But now that has vanished suddenly.

I don't find even one good reason for Advani's behavior after Modi's elevation as BJP poll panel chief.Advani is 85+ years old.The nation is expecting a change.The BJP needs a generation change.Modi is not a 27 year old youngster - agreed.But still he is a next generation leader and the party badly needs a man like him.If Advani thinks he can control the party by making his supporters like Sushma Swaraj as PM,it will only end up as a dream for him.Announcing the likes of Sushma Swaraj as PM candidate is literally suicidal for the party.The readers of this blog can come with me.I will take you to some underdeveloped towns and villages in Tamil Nadu. I will show you Modi supporters.But you cannot find Advani supporters or Sushma Swaraj supporters.Well you can very well argue that Modi has haters too.There is no politician in India without haters.

There are also people who think projecting Modi as PM itself will bring BJP govt at the center.That is 100% impossible.Without alliance,BJP cannot get the magical figure - 273.I have mentioned this fact in some of previous articles too - BJP is a zero in South India which contributes to around 120 seats.They got an opportunity to establish themselves in Karnataka,but their govt was like that of a Thuglak darbar.And they don't have a presence in states like West Bengal,Odisha too.So the question of an individual BJP govt is ruled out.To form a govt,BJP needs alliance.But other parties in the alliance doesn't want Modi to be the PM.But still, the party should stick to its decision on Modi.

Only some politicians has the charisma to inspire the voters.Narendra Modi is such a charismatic leader and he is a dynamic personality.The popular quote 'you may like him or you may hate him,but you can't ignore him' suits him perfectly.He doesn't give freebies.Not even current comes for free in Modi's Gujarat to farmers or anyone.But there is uninterrupted power-supply and the cost of electricity is reasonable.No govt owned wine-shops in Gujarat(the ban on liquor was imposed well before Modi came to power).Still Gujarat gets revenue.

Earlier,Modi's detractors used to speak about only Godhra riots.He is facing the cases and proving time and again that he is not responsible for post Godhra riots.We all know about CBI.People have a perception that CBI is a loyal ally of congress.The CBI provided false information against former Gujarat home minister Amit Shah,Modi's close aide and shamelessly admitted it in court after it was cornered by the judge.Amidst all these troubles,the investigation teams are providing clean chit to Modi.But still,for us he is communal.And Nitish Kumar lost his secular credentials when he shook hands with Modi..Humbug.There are no corruption charges against Modi.

In one of my previous articles also I mentioned this,irrespective of the outcome of the upcoming lok sabha elections,Modi should continue to lead the party.Only then,BJP will grow in some states atleast.Brand Modi will poll more votes for BJP.If you say Muslims will not vote for Modi,then it's a wrong statement.There are some Muslims who will not vote for brand BJP.Such people will not vote for the party even if it projects Vajpayee as its PM candidate.

The Indian middle class worships Narendra Modi and this time,it is the middle class which 'may' be the deciding factor.But still I need time to get statistics.Anyway the middle class is fully behind Modi and making Modi as its PM candidate may polarise the voters.

Prominent leaders of BJP should realize that there can be only one Prime Minister.If everyone keeps questioning 'why not me?',soon BJP will  become history.Right now Modi is the most popular leader in BJP.He is in the party for 20 years.He started as a canteen boy and has risen to where he is now.Some loons compare Modi with Anna Hazare and say Modi is nothing more than media hype.Prominent news channels and newspapers has given him the much needed publicity - agreed,but what kind of publicity?It has made people to perceive that Modi is a mass murderer,criminal and dictator.I don't understand how that will help him to grow and am not sure how some self-proclaimed intellectuals brand Modi as media-hype.He deserves every bit of praise he is getting.BJP should unanimously accept his candidature and work for the success of party.Whether they form the govt or not,but they should make it sure that they emerge as single largest party.The regional leaders like Vasundara Raje,Shivraj Singh Chauhan,Arjun Munda,Raman Singh, Manohar Parrikar etc should extend their complete co-operation and see that BJP gains as much as possible from the states where they are in power.


All talks of third-front,federal front will go on.Finally any front will need a congress or BJP to back them,if not they can't form a government.In that case,it cannot be called a third-front govt.Who knows, we may get a 3rd front Prime Minister/Prime Ministers like Deve Gowda and I K Gujral and stable(??) leaders like Sitaram Kesri.So BJP should not worry about these things.

Atleast I don't want to be harsh on a statesman like Mr.L K Advani.I have supported Advani for a long period and even now,am criticizing only his stand on Modi's elevation.A large section of media branded Advaniji too communal for his 'alleged' involvement in mosque demolition.The Manmohan Singh Liberhan commission,which took as long as 17 years to submit its report on mosque demolition,could not produce any concrete evidence against Advani.It simply had some assumptions like Advani and Vajpayee, had links with RSS and VHP and so they also might have involved in the conspiracy to demolish the mosque.Even the inquiry commission,after 17 long years, could not produce any evidence against Advani,but our 'secular' media decided Advani was the man behind demolition of mosque.Their news items were such that Advani himself took the crowbar and demolished the mosque.But for this media now Advani appears as angel.

Advani ji should understand that he is not in the race anymore.Instead of making resignation dramas,blogging about Mussolini and Hitler and Pope stories and feeding the pro-congress media,Advani should try to co-ordinate with regional parties which has a sizable presence and bring them into NDA.If he thinks he is Bhishma Pithamaha,he should realize that he cannot be the king.He should see that his activities brings Arjuna to power and not the Dhuriyodhana.Even Karna was a great warrior,still he lost the battle because he joined with evil forces.Bhishma Pithamaha should explain this story to Nitish Kumar.Young people should respect the elders and elders should bless them.Modi ji respects Advani and Advani ji should bless him.

Hope this article is balanced and I believe I have not been unfair to Mr.Advani. Also it doesn't support Modi blindly.And more articles will be published here.Keep watching this space for more.And please wait.Still there is something in this article.

Morarji Desai was part of the congress party and he was more experienced than Indira Gandhi.But Indira Gandhi became more popular and a dynamic personality.As she was Nehru's daughter,people worshiped her.With the help of Mr.Kamaraj,she became the Prime Minister of India.Later on she ignored even Mr.Kamaraj,when he raised his voice against emergency(well that's a different story).So literally Mrs.Gandhi captured the party.She became PM with the only qualification that she was daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru. She understood the mood of the nation.She realized that there is a wide acceptance for her and she didn't want to miss the huge opportunity.Brand Indira Gandhi earned more votes for the congress party.And till now only Nehru family is controlling congress party.

So Advani's congress fans,please shut up.You don't have any right to speak about respecting senior leaders in party.Follow your leader Mr.Jairam Ramesh.I always admire him,though sometimes his behavior is bit amateur.He is the only one who whole heartedly agreed that Modi is a challenge to congress.Its rare to see such a congress minister,who speaks truth straight from his heart.Learn from him instant Advani fans.

படித்ததில் பிடித்தது - வானம் வசப்படும்

நீண்ட இடைவெளிக்குப்  பிறகு இந்தத் தலைப்பில் ஒரு பதிவிட நேரம் கிடைத்திருக்கிறது.தமிழில் வரலாற்றுப் புதினங்கள் என்றாலே, பொன்னியின் செல்வனும் சிவகாமியின் சபதமும் தான் நம் நினைவுக்கு வரும்.சற்று வாசிக்கும்பழக்கம் அதிகமுள்ளவர்களுக்கு உடையார்,பார்த்திபன் கனவு, நந்திபுரத்து நாயகி,வேங்கையின் மைந்தன்,காந்தளூர் வசந்தகுமாரன் கதை ஏன் சமீபத்திய காவல் கோட்டமும் கூட நினைவுக்கு வரும்.ஆனால் இந்த நாவலைப் பற்றி நம் தலைமுறையினர் அதிகம் பேசி கேட்டதில்லை. இது புதுச்சேரி வரலாற்றைக் கூறும் கதை.புதுச்சேரி எப்படி உருவானது எங்கிருந்து உருவானது போன்ற தகவல்களைத் தேட வேண்டாம்.இக்கதையின் நிகழ்காலம் 1740-50 என்று வைத்துக்கொள்ளுங்கள் என்று ஆசிரியர் முன்னுரையிலேயே குறிப்பிட்டிருக்கிறார்.யார் அந்த ஆசிரியர்?இங்கு குறிப்பிடப்படும் நாவல் எது? வானம் வசப்படும் - சாகித்ய அகாதமி பரிசு பெற்ற நாவல் , ஆசிரியர் - திரு.பிரபஞ்சன்.

இந்த நாவலை ஏறத்தாழ இரண்டு மாதங்கள் படித்தேன்.656 பக்கங்கள் தான் என்றாலும் கூட நாவலின் சுவையும், நேரமின்மையும் ஒன்று சேர இந்த நாவலின் கடைசிப் பக்கத்தைப் படிக்க இரண்டு மாதங்கள் காத்திருக்க வேண்டியிருந்தது.முன்பே குறிப்பிட்டது போல இது புதுச்சேரியைப் பற்றிய கதை.துய்ப்ளெக்ஸ் என்கிற குவர்னர்(கவர்னர் - புத்தகத்தில் குவர்னர் என்றே குறிப்பிடுகிறார்கள்) மற்றும் அவருடைய துபாஷ் ஆனந்தரங்கப்பிள்ளை தான் கதையின் முக்கிய கதாபாத்திரங்கள்.இந்த ஆனந்தரங்கப்பிள்ளை அவர்களின் தனிச்சிறப்பு என்னவென்றால் தம் கால அரசியல்,சமூக நிகழ்ச்சிகளை 'டயரியாக'ச் சுமார் 25 ஆண்டு காலத்துக்கு எழுதி வைத்துச் சென்றதே.இதை ஆசிரியரே முன்னுரையில் குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார்.அந்த டயரிக் குறிப்புக்களை மையமாகக் கொண்டு எழுதப்பட்டது தான் இந்த 'வானம் வசப்படும்'.

மற்றொரு கதாபாத்திரமும் முக்கியத்துவம் பெறுகிறது - அது தான் துய்ப்ளெக்ஸின் மனைவி ழான்(Jeanne).ஆங்கிலேயர்கள் நம்மை அடிமைப்படுத்துவதற்கு முன்பே நம் மொத்த நாட்டையும் பிரெஞ்சு அரசாங்கத்தின் கீழ் கொண்டு வர முயன்றவன் தான் இந்த துய்ப்ளெக்ஸ். தன்னுடைய இந்த முயற்சியில் ஓரளவு வெற்றியும் பெற்று விட்டான். ஆனால் துய்ப்ளெக்ஸின் இந்த வெற்றிகளில் பெரும்பங்கு வகித்தவர் ஆனந்தரங்கப்பிள்ளை தான்.இப்படி குறிப்பிடுவதால் தேச பக்தர்கள் உடனடியாக பிள்ளை மீது வெறுப்பு கொள்ள வேண்டாம்.புதுச்சேரியை நிர்வகித்தக் குவர்னர்களுள் துய்ப்ளெக்சுடன் தான் ஆனந்தரங்கருக்கு நல்ல பழக்கம்.ஆகையால் குவர்னர் துய்ப்ளெக்ஸ் என்றாலும் கூட,ஆட்சிபுரிந்தவர் என்னவோ ஆனந்தரங்கர் என்னும் அளவுக்கு இருந்தது ஊருக்குள் அவருடைய  செல்வாக்கு.

வறுமையில் வாடிய பல தமிழ்ப்புலவர்களுக்கு ஏன் புலவர்களுக்கு என்றே கூறலாம்(ஏனெனில் ஒரு தெலுங்குக் கவிஞரைப்பற்றியும் குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளது),வள்ளல் போல வாரி வழங்கியவர். சடையப்ப வள்ளல் கம்பரை ஆதரித்தது போல,ஆனந்தரங்கர், ராமகவிராயர்,கஸ்துரி ரங்கையன் என பலருக்கும் ஆதரவுக் கரம் நீட்டியுள்ளார்.ராமகவிராயர் பற்றிய நிகழ்ச்சியைப் படிக்கும்போது மனம் நெகிழ்ந்துத் தான் போனது.இல்லாமை நோயால் சுரம் வந்து படுத்துக் கிடக்கும் மனைவி,அடுத்த வேளைக்குச் சாப்பிட நல்ல சாப்பாடு இல்லை.ஆனந்தரங்கர் உதவுவார் என்கிற  எதிர்பார்ப்புடன் கிளம்புகிறார்.பிள்ளை வீட்டில் இல்லை என அறிந்ததும் அவரிருக்கும் பாக்குமண்டிக்கே உடனே புறப்படுகிறார்.சாப்பாட்டு நேரத்தில் வந்த விருந்தாளிக்கு போஜனம் பண்ணுவிக்காமல் அனுப்புவது மகாபாவமென பிள்ளை சொல்லுவார் என அவர் காரியஸ்தர் எவ்வளவோ எடுத்துக் கூறியும் பாக்குமண்டிக்குச் சென்று விடுகிறார்.அங்கு பிள்ளையைப் பற்றிக் கவிபாடி தான் வந்த நோக்கத்தை வெளிப்படுத்துகிறார். அவருடைய நிலையறிந்த பிள்ளை அவர்கள் வேஷ்டி,சால்வைகள்,ஆயிரம் வராகன் காசு,மோதிரம் என அனைத்தும் கொடுத்து சகல மரியாதையுடன் அனுப்பி வைக்கிறார்.

இப்படிப் பல நிகழ்ச்சிகள்,சம்பவங்கள் குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளன.பானுகிரகி என்கிற நாட்டியக்காரி(தேவரடியாள்) கதாபாத்திரத்திற்கும் கணிசமான அளவு முக்கியத்துவம் கொடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.ஒரு பக்கம் இலக்கியம்,நாட்டியம், ஓரளவு அரசியல் என்றே செல்கிற கதையில் சுவாரஸ்யத்தை ஏற்படுத்துவது என்னவோ ழான் அவர்களின் கதாபாத்திரம் தான்.துய்ப்ளெக்ஸ் ஓரளவு நியாயவானகத்தான் இருக்கிறார்.சற்று பணத்துக்கு விலை போய்விடக்கூடிய மனிதர் தான் என்றாலும் கூட,அவர் மனைவியைக் காட்டிலும் எவ்வளவோ மேலானவர் என்றே சொல்ல வைக்கிறது ழான் அவர்களின் கதாபாத்திரம்.

குவர்னருக்கோ ரங்கப்பர்(ஆனந்தரங்கர்) என்றால் கொள்ளைப் பிரியம். ஆனால் ழானுக்கோ ரங்கப்பர் மீது எப்போதும் வெறுப்பு.காரணம் ரங்கப்பர் ஒரு தமிழர்(இந்து).

ழான் பல இடங்களில் ரங்கப்பரையும் இந்துக்களையும் காபிரிகள் என்றே குறிப்பிடுகிறார். காபிரிகள் என்பது ஒரு விதமான இழிசொல்.அதனாலேயே அவள் ஆனந்தரங்கருக்கு முன்பு துபாஷாக இருந்த பெத்ரோ கனகராய முதலியாருக்கு அதிக முக்கியத்துவம் கொடுத்தாள்.பெத்ரோ கனகராய முதலியார் ஒரு கிறிஸ்துவர்.ஆனந்தரங்கருக்கு முன்பே துபாஷ் பதவி வகித்தவர்.அவர் இறந்த பிறகே பிள்ளை துபாஷாக்கப்பட்டார்.துபாஷ் என்பது கவர்னருக்கு அடுத்தபடியான பதவி.கனகராய முதலியார் கிறிஸ்துவர் ஆனாலும் கூட,அவர் பெயரிலுள்ள முதலியார் மறையவில்லை.மதமாற்றம் தீண்டாமையையே ஒழிப்பதில்லை என்னும்போது ஜாதியை எங்கே ஒழிக்கப் போகிறது.ரங்கப்பருக்கு எதிராகப் பல போலி புகார்களும் குவர்னரிடம் கொடுக்கிறாள்.நமது குவர்னருக்கு ஆயிரம் தான் ரங்கப்பர் மீது பிரியமிருந்தாலும் அவர் ஒரு பொண்டாட்டித் தாசன்.மனைவியின் பேச்சைக் கேட்டு பல முறை ரங்கப்பரிடம் கோபப்பட்டுள்ளார்,ஆனால் ரங்கப்பரோ மிகவும் சாமார்த்தியசாலி.மிகத்திறமையான சமாதனங்களைச் சொல்லி குவர்னருக்கு உண்மையைப் புரிய வைத்துவிடுவார்.

ழான் பற்றி ஒரு குறிப்பு - ழானுக்கு துப்ளெக்ஸ் இரண்டாம் கணவர் தான். அவள் ஏற்கனவே வேன்சான் என்பவனை மணந்து பதினொரு குழந்தைகள்  பெற்றவள்.வேன்சான் இறந்த பிறகு ழானை துப்ளெக்ஸ் மணக்கிறார். வேன்சான் இறப்பதற்கு முன்பிருந்தே இருவரும் ஒருவரையொருவர் காதலிக்கிறார்கள்.இறந்த பிறகு மணக்கிறார்கள்.இது பிரான்ஸ் நாட்டில் சாதாரணம்.

ழான் ஒரு மதவெறி பிடித்தவள்.அவளின் முக்கிய நோக்கம் புதுச்சேரி வேதபுரீஸ்வரர் கோவிலை இடித்துத் தள்ளுவதும் இயன்ற அளவு இந்துக்களைக் கிறிஸ்துவர்களாக மாற்றுவதும் தான்.ரங்கப்பர் குவர்னர் துறைக்கு மிக நெருக்கமாக இருப்பதால் அவளால் நினைத்த அளவிற்கு காய் நகர்த்த முடியவில்லை.

இந்த நாவலில் மிக முக்கியமான சில சம்பவங்களைக் குறிப்பிட விரும்புகிறேன். சம்பாக் கோவிலில்(Church) ஒரு தடுப்புச் சுவர் கட்டப்பட்டிருந்தது.சுவற்றுக்கு ஒரு புறம் தாழ்த்தப்பட்டவர்கள்,மறுபுறம் மற்ற சாதி கிறிஸ்துவர்கள் உட்கார்ந்து பூஜை கேட்க வேண்டும்.ஒரு முறை தாழ்த்தப்பட்ட மக்கள் அனைவரும் சம்பாக் கோயிலின் பெரிய பாதிரியாரிடம் இது குறித்து புகார் சொல்கிறார்கள். 'எங்களை ஏன் தனிமைப்படுத்துகிரீர்கள்' என கேட்கிறார்கள்.இதையடுத்து பெரிய பாதிரியார் அந்தத் தடுப்புச் சுவரை இடித்து விடுகிறார்.மறுநாள் முதல் சாதி வேறுபாடின்றி அனைவரும் ஒருசேர அமர்ந்து பூஜை கேட்க வேண்டிவருகிறது..இதனால் மற்ற சாதி கிறிஸ்துவர்கள் கடுங்கோபம் அடைகிறார்கள். இதில் ஞானராசு முதலியார் என்பவருக்கும் பெரிய பாதிரியாருக்கும் நடக்கும் வாக்குவாதம்,மதம் மாறினாலும் சாதி மாறாது என்பதை தெளிவாக உணர்த்துகிறது.

உதாரணத்திற்கு,

"எம்மைப் பறையர் உடன் உட்காரப் பண்ணிவிட்டீரே!எம்மைக் கேவலம் பண்ணிப் போட்டீரே, எம்மைப் பூமிக்குக் கீழே எம் மரியாதைகளைப் புதைத்துப் போட்டீரே.." - என்கிறான் முதலி.

பெரிய பாதிரியாரின் இந்தச் செய்கைக்குப் பின் மேல் சாதி கிறிஸ்துவர்கள் என சொல்லப்படுபவர்கள் தேவாலயத்திற்குள் நுழைய மறுக்கிறார்கள். தாழ்த்தப்பட்டவர்களுக்குச் சமமாகத் தாங்கள் நடத்தப்படுவதை கேவலமாக எண்ணுகிறார்கள்.

மற்றொரு சம்பவமும் குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.சம்பாக் கோயில் பாதிரியார் கடுதே என்பவன் அருகாமையிலிருக்கும் வேதபுரீஸ்வரர் கோயிலுக்குள் நரகலை போட்டு விடுகிறான்.இது குறித்து வேதபுரீஸ்வரர் கோயில் குருக்களும் மற்ற இந்துக்களும் குவர்னரிடம் புகார் செய்கிறார்கள். இதை விசாரிக்க குவர்னர் ஒரு படையை அனுப்புகிறார்.அந்தப் படையில் முக்கியப் பொறுப்பு வகிக்கும் பராதி என்பவன்,கிறிஸ்துவ மத வெறியன், பாதிரியாருக்கு ஆதரவாக வழக்கை முடித்துவிடலாம் எனக் கூற,படையில் இருந்த முசே மேர் என்பவர் இதை ஏற்க மறுத்து,குவர்னர் நியாயமான விசாரணை மேற்கொள்ளவே தம்மை அனுப்பினார் எனக் கூறி பாதிரியாரின் குற்றத்தைக் குவர்னருக்கு விளக்குகிறார்.

மீண்டும் ஒரு முறை இதே கடுதே,ஒரு இந்துவின் மீது தவறான தகவல்களுடன் புகார் செய்கிறார்.குவர்னருக்கு பெத்திசியோம்(பெட்டிஷன்) எழுதுகிறார்.இதை விசாரித்தக் குவர்னர் துப்ளெக்ஸ், இந்தப் பாதிரி மீது கடுங்கோபம் கொள்கிறார்.இவரைப் பற்றி பிரான்ஸ் ராஜாவுக்கும்,மன்னர் நீடூழி வாழ்க(ஒவ்வொரு முறை பிரான்ஸ் மன்னரைப் பற்றி குறிப்பிடும்போதும் மன்னர் நீடூழி வாழ்க என்று அனைத்துக் கதாபாத்திரங்களும் சொல்கின்றன), இவருக்கு மேலே இருக்கப்பட்ட சாமியாருக்கும் புகார் எழுதப் போவதாகச் சொல்கிறார் துய்ப்ளெக்ஸ்.

துய்ப்ளெக்சைப் பொறுத்த வரை வியாபாரத்தையும் மதத்தையும் போட்டுக் குழப்பிக் கொள்ளவே மாட்டார்.அவர் தெளிவான சிந்தனையுடவர்.முதலில் தாங்கள் இங்கே வந்தது வியாபாரத்திற்காகத் தானே தவிர மதம் மாற்றம் செய்ய அல்ல என்பதை வலியுறுத்துகிறார்.இந்துக்களுக்கும் கிறிஸ்தவர்களுக்கும் இடையே மதச்சண்டை வந்தால் வியாபாரம் பெரிதும் பாதிக்கப்படும் என்பதை உணர்ந்திருந்தார் துய்ப்ளெக்ஸ்.ஆனால் அவரும் இந்துக்களை அஞ்ஞானிகள் என்றே கருதுகிறார்,அவர்களை ஞான மார்க்கத்துக்கு(கிறிஸ்துவ மதத்துக்கு) அழைத்து வர வேண்டும் என்பது அவர்களின் கடமை என்றும் கருதுகிறார்.இது கிறிஸ்துவ மிஷினரிகளுக்கே உண்டான மனோபாவம்.

இவர் இப்படி இருக்க,இவரின் மனைவி ழான் வந்து காரியத்தைக் கெடுக்கிறார். பாதிரிக்கு வக்காலத்து வாங்கி அவர் பக்கம் பேசத் தொடங்குகிறார்.ழான் எப்போது இந்த விவகாரத்தில் மூக்கை நுழைத்தாளோ அப்போதே துய்ப்ளெக்ஸ் அந்த இடத்தை விட்டு நகர்ந்து விடுகிறார். மனைவிக்கு எதிராக எதுவும் செய்யும் திராணி அவருக்கு இல்லை.ஏற்கனவே குறிப்பிட்டதைப் போல அவர் ஒரு பொண்டாட்டித் தாசன்.

இந்தக் கதையில் அனைவரின் வெறுப்பையும் சம்பாதிக்கும் கதாபாத்திரம் என்றால் அது ழான் தான்.துபாஷ் பதவி தருவதற்காக அன்னபூரண ஐயன் என்பவனிடம் லஞ்சம் பெற்றுக் கொள்வது,செல்வந்தர் வீடுகளுக்கு அடியாட்களை அனுப்பி அநியாயமாகப் பெரும் தொகை வசூலிக்கச் செய்வது , இந்துக்களையும் அவர்களது வழிபாட்டு முறையையும் கேலி பேசுவது, மதமாற்றம் செய்வது,ஆனந்தரங்கப்பிள்ளை மீது பொய்க் குற்றச்சாட்டுகள் சுமத்துவது என இவள் செய்யும் அனைத்துமே ஆத்திரமூட்டும் காரியங்கள் தான்.

அதிகாலையில் எழுந்திருக்கும் சேஷு பண்டிதன்,உடம்பில் பூணூல்  இல்லையே என்று பதறுகிறான்.பிறகு தான்,தான் ஞானாதிக்கப் பண்டிதனானது நினைவுக்கு வருகிறது.பணத்திற்கு ஆசைப்பட்டு மதம் மாறிய பண்டிதர் கிறிஸ்தவ மதத்தில் சந்தி(சந்தியாவந்தனம்) பண்ண வேண்டுமா என சந்தேகம் கேட்க,அதெல்லாம் இங்கே அவசியமில்லை என விளக்கம் தருகிறார் ஜீவப்பிரகாசமாக மாறிய சிவப்பிரகாச ஐயர்.இந்த மத மாற்றங்கள் ழான் முன்னிலையில் நடக்கின்றன.

இதற்கெல்லாம் சிகரம் வைத்தாற்போல் அமைகிறது மற்றொரு சம்பவம்.

குவர்னர் சற்று அசந்த நேரம் பார்த்து அவரிடம் தந்திரமாகப் பேசி, மூளைச்சலவை செய்து, வேதபுரீஸ்வரர் கோயிலை இடிக்க உத்தரவு பிறப்பிக்க வைத்துவிடுகிறாள்.ஈவு இரக்கமின்றி இந்துக்களின் நம்பிக்கையை கொச்சைப்படுத்தும் வகையில் வேதபுரீஸ்வரர் கோயில் இடிக்கப்படுகிறது. தமிழர்களின்(இந்துக்கள்) தலைவர் போல திகழ்ந்த ஆனந்தரங்கரிடம் இந்துக்கள் முறையிடுகிறார்கள்.

"நாட்டார்களிலே எல்லோரும் ஒரே குரலாய் எதிர்க்கிற போது,குவர்னர் துரை எப்படிக் கோயிலை இடிக்கிறது?" - என்றார் ஒருவர்.ஆனால் உண்மை என்னவெனில் இவர்கள் ஒரே குரலாய் சொல்லவில்லை.இவர்களில் சிலர் பணத்துக்கும் பதவிக்கும் விலைபோய்விட்டார்கள்.அன்னபூர்ண ஐயனுக்குத் துபாஷ் பதவி கொடுக்கும்பட்சத்தில் கோயிலை இடிக்கச் சம்மதம் என்று சிலர் தெரிவித்துவிடுகிரார்கள்.இந்துக்களின் இது போன்ற ஒற்றுமையின்மையே அயல்நாட்டு துஷ்ட சக்திகளுக்கு துணிச்சலைத் தருகிறது.இங்கு இந்துக்களுக்கு மத்தியிலிருக்கும் வேற்றுமைகளைப் பயன்படுத்தி இந்த அயல்நாட்டு சக்திகள் பல விஷயங்களை சாதித்து விட்டன.

இப்போதைய கூடங்குளம் போராட்டம் கூட கிறிஸ்தவ மிஷினரிகளின் தூண்டுதலின் பேரில் தான் நடக்கிறது என்கிற குற்றச்சாட்டு இல்லாமல் இல்லை.

வேதபுரீஸ்வரர் கோயிலை இடிக்கும்பொழுது அருகே இருக்கும் ஒரு மசூதியையும் இடித்துவிடுமாறு துய்ப்ளெக்ஸ் உத்தரவு பிறப்பிக்கிறார்.அப்போது துலுக்கர் படைத் தலைவன் அப்துல் ரகுமான் குவர்னரைச் சந்தித்து மசூதியை இடிக்கும் உத்தரவை திரும்பப்பெறாவிட்டால் அவர்களிடம் இருக்கும் கடைசித் துலுக்கன் உயிரோடு இருக்கும் வரைக்கும், மசூதியின் ஒரு செங்கல் விழுவதையும் அவர்கள் பொறுத்துக்கொள்ள மாட்டார்கள் என்கிறான்.அப்துல் ரகுமானின் மன உறுதியும் நெஞ்சுரமும் குவர்னர் துரையை அச்சமூட்டவே, உத்தரவைத் திரும்பப் பெறுகிறார்.

இந்துக்களிடையே நிலவும் ஒற்றுமையின்மையை இந்தக் காட்சிகள் மிக அழகாகப் படம் பிடித்துக் காட்டுகின்றன. ஒரு முறை குவர்னர் ஆனந்தரங்கரிடம் கேட்கிறார்,(இந்த உரையாடல் கோயில் இடிப்பின் போது நிகழ்ந்தது அல்ல)

"இந்தத் தேசத்தை மிகச் சுலபமாக வெற்றிகொண்டு விடலாம் என்று சொல்லும்"

அதற்கு ஆனந்தரங்கர் இவ்வாறு பதிலுரைக்கிறார்,

"இந்தத் தேசமென்ன பிரபுவே, ஒற்றுமையோ,இனத்தான் என்கிற பாசமோ, பழகியவன் என்கிற சிநேகிதாமோ இல்லாத மக்களை ஆயுதம் கொண்டல்ல, ஒற்றை விரலால் அடக்கி விடலாமே"

இது போல இந்த நாவலில் பல சுவாரஸ்யமான விஷயங்கள் உள்ளன. ஆனந்தரங்கரும் அவருடைய நண்பர் நாகாபரணப் பண்டிதரும் நாட்டு நடப்பை அலசும் விதம் யதார்த்தம்.ஆனந்தரங்கரின் மகள் பாப்பாள் திருமணத்திற்குப் பின் இறந்து போவது நெஞ்சை உருக்குவதாகத் தான் இருந்தது.ழான் தன் மகளின் கள்ளக்காதலுக்கு உதவுவது சற்று நகைச்சுவையாக இருந்தாலும், அயல்நாட்டவர்கள் கலாச்சாரம் எப்படிப்பட்டது என்பதை உணர்த்துகிறது.

நாவலின் மற்றொரு முக்கிய கதாபாத்திரம் ராபர்ட் கிளைவ்.கிளைவ் பற்றி மிகச்சிறப்பாக விவரிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.இந்தக் கிளைவ் என்பவனும் துய்ப்ளெக்ஸ் என்பவனும் நம் நாட்டை அடிமைப் படுத்த வந்த அய்யோக்கியர்கள் என்ற நினைப்பை சற்று ஓரம் கட்டிவிட்டு பார்த்தால், இவர்களின் கதாபாத்திரங்களை ரசிக்கலாம். துய்ப்ளெக்ஸ் கவர்னராக இருக்கலாம்,ஆனால் கதையில் கதாநாயகன்(ஹீரோ) அந்தஸ்து என்னவோ ஆனந்தரங்கருக்குத் தான்.25 ஆண்டுகால அரசியல் மற்றும் சமூக நிகழ்வுகளை டயரியில் எழுதி நம் வரலாற்றை நாம் அறியும் வண்ணம் செய்த ஆனந்தரங்கருக்கு ஹீரோ அந்தஸ்து கொடுக்கப்படத்தான் வேண்டும்.

'துரோகிகளே,துரோகிகளை விரும்பார்' போன்ற வசனங்களைக் கொண்ட இந்த நாவலுக்கு சாகித்ய அகாதமி பரிசு கிடைத்ததில் எனக்கு ஒரு ஆச்சரியமும் இல்லை.அந்த காலத்துத் தமிழை நாவலில்  அப்படியே கொண்டுவந்திருக்கிறார் ஆசிரியர் பிரபஞ்சன். சாகித்ய அகாதமி கொடுக்கப்பட்டதற்கு அதுவும் ஒரு முக்கியக்காரணம் எனச் சொல்லப்படுகிறது.

இஸ்லாமியர்களைப் பிள்ளை, துலுக்கர்கள் என்றே குறிப்பிடுகிறார்.இந்த நாவலைப் பற்றி எழுதுவதால் அதில் குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளது போலவே சில சொற்களை நானும் பயன்படுத்தியிருக்கிறேன்.உதாரணத்திற்கு - குவர்னர்,துலுக்கர் போன்ற சொற்கள்.மற்றொரு குறிப்பு - நமது ஆனந்தரங்கரின் பெயரில் புதுச்சேரியில் ஒரு வீதி உள்ளது. ரங்கப்பிள்ளை தெரு - இது புதுச்சேரி நேரு வீதிக்கு அடுத்த வீதி.தேவனாம்பட்டினம் பற்றியும் குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.கடலூர் கடற்கரையை(சில்வர் பீச்)த் தான் தேவனாம்பட்டினம் குறிக்கிறது.இப்போதும் கூட இந்தப் பெயர் உள்ளது . தனிப்பட்ட முறையில்,எனக்கு,புதுச்சேரியிலும் கடலூரிலும் வாழ்ந்த அனுபவம் உண்டு.ஆகையால் இந்த நாவலில் குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ள பல விஷயங்களை மிக எளிதாகக் கற்பனை செய்து பார்க்க முடிந்தது.

இந்தப் பதிவு சற்று நீளமானப் பதிவுத் தான்.656 பக்க நாவலைப் பற்றி எழுத வேண்டுமென்றால் சற்று நீளமாகத் தான் எழுத வேண்டியுள்ளது.அரை மணி நேரம் இந்தப் பதிவை படிப்பதற்காக ஒதுக்குங்கள்.முழுவதும் படித்தப் பிறகு வானம் வசப்படும் படிக்க வேண்டுமென்கிற ஆசை எழலாம்.ஒருவேளை அப்படி எழவில்லையென்றால் கூட, ஒரு சிறப்பான நாவலைப் பற்றியத் தகவல்கள் அறிந்து கொண்டோம் என்கிற திருப்தி ஏற்படலாம்.
 

அரசு பள்ளிகளில் ஆங்கில வழிக் கல்வி

தமிழக அரசின் இந்த அறிவிப்பு தான் இன்று சமூக ஆர்வலர்கள் மத்தியிலும் தம்மைத் தாமே தமிழ்ப் பாதுகாவலர்கள் என்று நினைத்துக் கொண்டிருப்பவர்கள் மத்தியிலும் கடும் கொந்தளிப்பை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது. உண்மையில் அரசு வெளியிட்ட அறிவிப்பு தான் என்ன?

"முன்னதாக, ஆங்கில வழிக் கல்வி தொடர்பாக, சட்டப்பேரவையில் பள்ளிக் கல்வித் துறை மானிய கோரிக்கையின்போது அமைச்சர் வைகைச்செல்வன் வெளியிட்ட அறிவிப்பு இதுதான்:

இது நமக்கும் ஏற்புடையதாக இல்லை.தனியார் பள்ளிக்கூடங்களுக்கு நிகரான தரமான கல்வியை வழங்க வேண்டுமென்று அரசு நினைத்திருந்தால்,அதில் தவறேதும் இல்லை தான்.ஆனால் அதற்காக அரசு பின்பற்றும் வழிமுறைகள் தான் தவறு. முதலில் நாம் யோசிக்க வேண்டிய முக்கியமான விஷயம் - 'தனியார் பள்ளிகள் உண்மையில் தரமான கல்வி வழங்குகிறதா?' என்பது தான்.இன்று தனியார் பள்ளிகளின் ஒரே லட்சியம் - 'நூறு சதவிகிதம் தேர்ச்சி'.இந்த நூறு சதவிகித தேர்ச்சிக்காக இவர்கள் மாணவர்களை நடத்தும் விதம் பல நேரங்களில் கடும் ஆத்திரத்தையே ஏற்படுத்துகிறது.

தனியார் பள்ளிகள் மாணவர்களை இயந்திரத்தைப் போல மாற்றி விடுகிறார்கள்.ஒரு பத்தாம் வகுப்பு மாணவனின் ஒரு நாள் இப்படித் தான் அமைகிறது.காலை ஐந்து மணிக்கு தனியார் பயிற்சி வகுப்புகளுக்குப் புறப்படுகிறான்.5.30 முதல் 7 மணி வரை ஒரு பாடம்.8 மணிக்கு பள்ளியில் சிறப்பு பயிற்சி வகுப்பு.9.30 முதல் வழக்கமான வகுப்புகள்.இடையில் அரை மணி நேரம் உணவு இடைவேளை.இடைவேளை முடிந்த உடன் ஏதேனும் ஒரு பாடத்திற்கான தேர்வு இருக்கும்.அந்த தேர்வு ஒரு அரை மணி நேரம் வரை நடத்தப்படும்.பிறகு மதிய வகுப்புகள்.இவை முடிந்த பிறகு மீண்டும் மாலை பள்ளியில் சிறப்புப் பயிற்சி வகுப்புகள்.பிறகு மீண்டும் தனியார் பயிற்சி வகுப்புகள்.இரவு 10 மணிக்கு வீடு திரும்பும் மாணவன் மறு தின பரிட்சைக்காக தயார் செய்ய வேண்டியுள்ளது.இவ்வளவு செய்தும் ஒரு வேளை தன்னால் தேர்வில் முதல் மூன்று இடங்களுக்குள் வர முடியாமல் போனால் அனைவரும் அந்த மாணவனை வசைபாடி தீர்ப்பார்கள். இது தான் சிறந்த கல்வியைத் தருகிறோம் என விளம்பரங்களின் மூலம் மார்தட்டி கொள்ளும் தனியார் பள்ளிகளின் நிலை.


தனியார் பள்ளிகளின் நிலை இப்படியென்றால் அரசு பள்ளிகளின் நிலை அதற்கு நேர்மார்.பல பள்ளிகளில் பல பாடங்களுக்கு ஆசிரியர்களே இல்லை. வசதியின்றி படிக்க வரும் ஏழை மாணவர்களை தங்கள் வீட்டு வேலைக்காரனைப் போல் நடத்தும் ஆசிரியர்களும் இல்லாமல் இல்லை. பெண் பிள்ளைகளுக்கு பாலியல் தொல்லை தரும் பொறுக்கிகளும் ஆசிரியர்களாக இருக்கிறார்கள். ஆண்-பெண் என இருபாலர் பயிலும் பள்ளிகளில் கழிப்பறை வசதிகள் கூட இருப்பதில்லை.கட்டடங்கள் வலிமையானதாக இருப்பதில்லை.திடீரெனெ தீப்பிடித்தால் தப்பிக்கத் தேவையான முன்னெச்சரிக்கை நடவடிக்கைகளும் எடுக்கப்படுவதில்லை.


இதனால் தான் மக்கள் தனியார் பள்ளிகளுக்குப் படை எடுக்கிறார்கள்.ஒரு தனியார் பள்ளியில் தன் மகனைச் சேர்த்தால் அவனுக்கு அறிவு வளர்கிறதோ இல்லையோ, பெயருக்குப் பின்னே ஒரு பட்டத்தையாவது போட்டுக்கொள்ளும் அளவிற்கு முன்னேறிவிடுவான் என்று பெற்றோர்கள் நம்புகிறார்கள். இந்த நம்பிக்கையைக் கூட அரசு பள்ளிகள் ஏற்படுத்தத் தவறுவதால் தான் பெரும்பாலானவர்கள் அவைகளைத் தவிர்க்கிறார்கள். ஆக, தமிழக அரசு முதலில் அரசு பள்ளிகளில் அடிப்படை வசதிகளை ஏற்படுத்தித் தருவதில் கவனம் செலுத்த வேண்டும். மாணவர்களுக்குத் தரமான கல்வியுடன் ஒழுக்கத்தையும் கற்றுத் தர வேண்டும்.


ஒரு வேளை அடிப்படை வசதிகளை மேம்படுத்தி விட்டால் ஆங்கிலவழிக்கல்வியை அமல்படுத்தலாமா என்றால்,கூடாது என்பது தான் என் கருத்து.


ஆங்கிலவழிக்கல்வியையோ அல்லது ஆங்கிலத்தையோ எதிர்ப்பதற்காக இதை எழுதவில்லை.நான் படித்ததும் கூட ஆங்கிலவழிக்கல்வியில் தான். ஆனால் அன்று என் பள்ளியில் தமிழ் மொழிக்கு எந்த விதத்திலும் ஒரு மரியாதை குறைவு ஏற்பட்டுவிடவில்லை.அது அன்றைய நிலை.இன்று நிலைமை வேறு மாதிரி ஆகிவிட்டது.அன்று ஆங்கிலவழியில் கல்வி கற்று வளர்ந்தவர்கள் இன்று கேட்கும் கேள்வி - 'தமிழ் படிச்சி என்ன சாதிக்கப் போறேன்?தமிழ் படிச்சா பத்து பைசாக்கு பிரயஜோனம் இருக்கா?'.


இப்படிக் கேட்பவர்கள் ஒரு விஷயத்தை உணருவதில்லை.அவர்கள் இந்தக் கேள்வியை கேட்பதும் கூட தமிழில் தான் என்பதை.நம் சிந்தனைகள் யாவும் இயற்கையாகவே நம் தாய்மொழியில் தான் அமையும்.வேற்று மொழியில் சிந்தித்தால் அது அத்தனை சிறப்பாக அமையாது.இன்றைய ஆங்கில மோகத்தின் விளைவு என்னவென்றால் - 'ungalukkaaga seupar(super :D) song onnu vandhutte irukku paathu enjoy pannunga..this is prashant signing off from you.." - இது போன்ற அரைவேக்காட்டுத்தனமான ஒரு மொழி தான். தமிழும் சரியாகத் தெரியாது ஆங்கிலமும் சரியாகத் தெரியாது - இரண்டும் கலந்த ஒரு அரைவேக்காடு மொழி பேசும் ஒரு தலைமுறையாக நாம் உருவாகிவிட்டோம் என்பது தான் கசப்பான உண்மை. இந்த மொழி பரவ சன் மியூசிக் போன்ற தரம் தாழ்ந்த தனியார் தொலைக்காட்சிகள் ஒரு முக்கியக் காரணமே என்றாலும், அரசு பள்ளிகளிலும் கூட முழுக்க முழுக்க ஆங்கிலவழிக் கல்வி அமல்படுத்தப்படுதல் நம் அடுத்தத் தலைமுறையைக் கடுமையாகப் பாதிக்கும் என்பதில் சந்தேகமில்லை.


நான் புதுச்சேரி பெடிட் செமினார்(Petit Seminaire) பள்ளியில் படிக்கும்போது அந்த பள்ளியின் முதல்வர் பாதிரியார் திரு.அந்தோணிசாமி அவர்கள் பேசிய இந்த வாக்கியம் என் மனதில் பதிந்து விட்டது.'தாய் மொழியில் கல்வி கற்பவர்கள் யாரும் தாழ்ந்து போக மாட்டார்கள்'.இதே கருத்தை என் தந்தையும் கூட பலமுறை கூறியிருக்கிறார்.இவர்களும் கூட தமிழ்வழிக்கல்வியில் படித்தவர்கள் தான்.உலகின் தலைசிறந்த விஞ்ஞானிகளுள் ஒருவரென மதிக்கப்படும் அய்யா அப்துல் கலாம் அவர்கள் கூட தமிழ் வழிக்கல்வியில் படித்தவர் தான்.இது போல பல பேரை உதாரணமாகக் காட்டலாம். தமிழில் படித்ததால் இவர்கள் எந்த விதத்தில் தாழ்ந்து விட்டார்கள்?


அப்துல் கலாம் அவர்கள் பேசும் இந்தக் காட்சியைப் பாருங்கள்.

தமிழில் படித்து தன் கடும் உழைப்பினால் முன்னேறிய இந்த மாமனிதருக்கு - ஒரு இந்தியருக்கு - ஒரு தமிழருக்கு - ஆங்கிலேயர்கள் மத்தியில் எத்தனை சிறப்பென்று.


இதோ மயில்சாமி அண்ணாதுரை அவர்களின் இந்த சொற்பொழிவைப் பாருங்கள்.இந்திய விண்வெளி ஆராய்ச்சி மையத்துடன் தொடர்புடையவர். சந்திரயான் திட்ட இயக்குனரும் இவரே.இவர் என்ன சொல்கிறார் என்று பாருங்கள் :


"சந்திரயான் வெற்றிக்கு தாய்மொழிக் கல்வி தான் காரணம்.அக்குழுவில் இடம்பெற்றிருந்தவர்களில் அதிகமானோர் தாய்மொழியில் படித்தவர்களே. எனவே இளைஞர்களிடையே தாய்மொழிப் பற்றும்,நாட்டுப்பற்றும் அவசியம் இருக்க வேண்டும்" - என்கிறார் மயில்சாமி அண்ணாதுரை.

"தமிழே,
உன் உன்னதம் உணராமல் எழுதினேன்
 என் வரிக்கெல்லாம் வருமானம் வந்தது
உன் உன்னதம் உணர்ந்து எழுதினேன்
என் வருமானத்திற்கே வரி வந்தது"

 - இது கவிஞர் வாலி அவர்கள் சொன்னது.

இது போன்ற தமிழ் வாக்கியங்களையும் தமிழ்க் கவிதைகளையும் தமிழ்க் கதைகளையும் படிப்பதே ஒரு தனி சுகம் தான்.தமிழ் எழுத்துக்களிலேயே ஒரு வசீகரம் இருக்கிறது என்று சொன்னால் அது மிகையாகாது.இப்படிப்பட்ட தமிழில் கல்வி கற்பது ஒருவனுடைய அறிவை மேலும் கூர்மயாக்குமே தவிர குறைத்து விடாது.

ஒன்றை நாம் புரிந்துகொள்ள வேண்டும்.தமிழ் வழிக்கல்வியோ அல்லது ஆங்கிலவழிக் கல்வியோ,முன்னேற வேண்டும் என்கிற எண்ணமுடையவனை, சரியான வழிகாட்டிகளைக் கொண்டவனை, எந்த விதத்திலும் பாதிக்காது.மாறாக இது போல தமிழுக்கு அளித்து வரும் முக்கியத்துவம் குறைந்து கொண்டே போனால்,எதிர்காலத்தில் தமிழ் மொழி என்ற ஒன்று வரலாற்றில் மட்டுமே இருக்கும்,வழக்கில் இருக்காது.

"புத்தம் புதிய கலைகள் - பஞ்ச
பூதச் செயல்களின் நுட்பங்கள் கூறும்
மெத்த வளருது மேற்கே - அந்த
மேன்மைக் கலைகள் தமிழினில் இல்லை

சொல்லவும் கூடுவதில்லை - அவை
சொல்லுந் திறமை தமிழ்மொழிக் கில்லை
மெல்லத் தமிழினிச் சாகும் - அந்த
மேற்கு மொழிகள் புவிமிசை யோங்கும்"

என்றந்தப் பேதை யுரைத்தான் - ஆ!
இந்த வசை எனக்கெய்திடலாமோ?
சென்றிடுவீர் எட்டுத் திக்கும் - கலைச்
செல்வங்கள் யாவுங் கொணர்ந்திங்கு சேர்ப்பீர்!

தந்தை அருள் வலியாலும் - இன்று
சார்ந்த புலவர் தவ வலியாலும்
இந்தப் பெரும்பழி தீரும் - புகழ்
ஏறிப் புவிமிசை என்றும் இருப்பேன்."

இது பாரதியின் கவிதை.அவர் உலகெங்கும் உள்ள கலைச்செல்வங்களை கொணர்ந்திங்கு சேர்ப்பீர் என்கிறார்.

ஆனால் நாமோ நம் தாய்மொழியை இகழ்ந்து அந்நியர்களின் மொழிக்கே முக்கியத்துவம் அளிக்கிறோம். தமிழர்களே தமிழைப் புறக்கணிக்கத் தொடங்கினால் தமிழ் மெல்லச் சாகத்தான் செய்யும்.ஆகையால் அரசு தமிழ்த்தாய்க்குச் சிலை வைத்து விளம்பரம் தேடிக்கொள்வதைவிட தமிழ் வழிக்கல்வியை ,முன்பு போல முழுவதுமாகத் தொடர்வதும் அரசு பள்ளிகளிலும் தனியார் பள்ளிகளைப் போன்ற உள்கட்டமைப்பு வசதிகளையும் செய்து கொடுப்பதே தமிழ்த்தாய்க்கு மனநிறைவை ஏற்படுத்தும்.

தமிழின் இன்றைய நிலை : என் பதிவுகளைப் படிக்கும் பெரும்பாலானோர் (தமிழைத் தாய்மொழியாகக் கொண்டவர்கள்), இந்தப் பதிவைக் கண்டதும் கூறப் போகும் காருத்து : "எதுக்குடா தமிழிலே எழுதி சாவடிக்கிற? தமிழ்ப் படிக்கறதெல்லாம் ரொம்ப கஷ்டம்.தயவு செஞ்சி இனிமே தமிழிலே எழுதாதே அப்படி எழுதினா எங்களைப் படிக்கச் சொல்லாதே".

கவிஞர் வாலி அவர்களின் கவிதையிலிருந்து இந்த இரு வரிகளை மட்டும் குறிப்பிட்டு இந்தப் பதிவை முடித்துக் கொள்கிறேன் :

"ஆங்கிலம் அளவிற்கு சோறு போடாது தமிழ்
என சொல்பவர் முகத்தில் உமிழ் "

BJP's big battle

Every state hates this Congress govt for so many reasons.The common reason is corruption.This UPA govt is facing allegations of corruptions of large magnitude.Still political observers and analysts are not ready to write off congress in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.The main reason is lack of credible opposition.As of now,the only national party which can be considered as an alternative to the congress is the BJP.If the BJP wants to maintain this reputation,it should take some bold decisions.

All these years,the BJP went for elections banking on the charisma of its Prime Ministerial candidate.In 96,98,99 and 2004 it was Mr.Vajpayee.In 2009,it depended a lot on Mr.L K Advani.Whether they won or not is a different question,but the party is still in power in 5 states and in coalition in states like Punjab and Bihar.The 99-04 Vajpayee govt was far better than the previous govts and they faced the elections with the slogan 'India Shining'.Though the BJP lost the elections,it didn't lose the credibility.This is because the party took the decisions on its own.It stood for its ideology.All its allies were on the same page - their common enemy was Congress.There was a discipline in the party.Everyone were controlled by the central leadership. One of its popular leader,Uma Bharati, was expelled from the party for showing disrespect towards Advani.

But now the situation is not same.The principal opposition party is struggling hard to make any decision.Being the largest party in NDA(National Democratic Alliance),still its not able to announce its PM candidate.A section of people are of the opinion that if the BJP announces Narendra Modi as its PM candidate,it can individually form the govt.People belonging to this section don't know anything about a world outside facebook/twitter.Atleast 50% of online Modi supporters will not vote in the upcoming elections,as they will be either abroad or their name will not be there in the voter list.That's all about the online Modi fans.Let us come back to reality.

Will the Narendra Modi factor help the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections?The answer is big YES. To what extent?BJP and its supporters/sympathizers should try to find an honest answer for this question.If you are going to say,announcing Modi as PM candidate itself will give the halfway mark of 273 seats in the Lok Sabha elections to BJP,then you are a Modi fanatic.But Modi is the most popular BJP leader in India. He is the darling of corporates.Lakshmi Mittal,Ambanis,Tatas everyone will be pleased with the announcement.The middle-class people are expecting a lot from the man.Youngsters,first time voters may also contribute fairly to the 'Modi-voters list'.Compared to Advani,Modi has more support and less haters(this doesn't mean Advani is bad..Advani is a very good statesman in politics!!).Modi is more popular in villages compared to even Manmohan Singh.There are Modi haters too in large number.But the BJP in general has some haters.Even if they project someone like Arun Jaitley as their PM candidate,this hatred will be there.But the party will surely lose the pro-Modi votes if it projects anyone other than him as its PM candidate.

Projecting someone like Sushma Swaraj as PM candidate will not inspire the voters.So considering all these possibilities, Modi for PM will be the right slogan for the BJP in the upcoming LS elections.By projecting Modi as its PM candidate,BJP may emerge out as single largest party.

But the BJP is hesitating to make this announcement.They are more concerned with the appeasement of over-ambitious fellows like Nitish Kumar.Nitish Kumar has made a mockery of himself on so many occasions in the name of being secular.Anyone with common sense will laugh at Nitish Kumar's foolish statements.There is a perception among most of the social activists in India that being secular is being anti-Hindu.This Nitish Kumar has given a new definition to secularism.Being secular is being anti-Modi. Once he shook hands with Modi in NDA Chief Ministers meeting.Immediately,the great Lalu Prasad Yadav questioned Nitish's secular credentials.Shaking hands with someone will not make you communal is what I believe.So Nitish gave some answer to convince Lalu.

According to Nitish,Modi is communal and anti-Muslim politician.If that is the case,why Nitish Kumar is still in alliance with BJP?Why did he fight the 2010 assembly elections with BJP?If he feels Modi is responsible for the 2002 post Godhra riots,he shouldn't have continued in the alliance anymore.But he fought the 2005 and 2010 assembly elections with the alliance of BJP.And on both the occasions the alliance got landslide victories.Will Nitish Kumar say that people voted for him just because he spoke against Modi?He claims he has developed Bihar to a great extent and its growth rate is much more than Gujarat.If this is true,still why he wants the Central govt to grant 'backward' status to Bihar?He was railway minister during the Godhra incident took place.He could have very well walked out the alliance during that time itself,but he didn't.

Actually he made use of BJP as much as possible and established himself as a strong leader in Bihar.There is no doubt that Nitish Kumar is the most popular leader in Bihar and his govt has given a peaceful life to people of Bihar.When Lalu Prasad Yadav was in power,goondas used to capture poll booths.Rowdyism was at its peak and there was no law and order at all.After Nitish Kumar came to power,the situation changed.He has given a reasonably good government all these years and very well deserves yet another term as Chief Minister.People are ready to give him another term,but is Nitish ready to accept it?

He seems to be over-ambitious.He might think his anti-Modi stand might give him a 'secular' image and as a result,a group of non-congress and non-BJP parties might propose him as their PM candidate.Or he might be even thinking of an alliance with Congress.It has been long since we have seen him attacking the congress or the central government.All these years if he has spoken against someone means - it is Narendra Modi.If either of this happens,Nitish Kumar will feel for it later.Atleast as of now,a third-front govt in India will remain a dream.Without the BJP or Congress its not possible for any party to form a govt.

During the 2009 elections,Odisha CM Mr.Navin Patnaik walked out of NDA playing the secular card.This incident gave a very bad image to the BJP.It demotivated the BJP workers to a great extent.This was one of the main reasons for BJP's bad performance in the elections.Nitish will very well do this to NDA this time. Instead of trying to appease him,the BJP should concentrate on gathering support for Modi.It should boldly announce Narendra Modi as its Prime Ministerial candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.If they start working from now on,they can emerge as single largest party.Last time they gained some seats in Karnataka,this time they are sure to lose in Karnataka.But this time they will have gains in Rajasthan.Last time BJP won around 4 seats in Rajasthan,this time they may win upto 17-18 seats.They should give some liberty to Vasundara Raje as she is one the popular BJP leader in Rajasthan.Likewise,the BJP should strengthen its hold in the states where they have presence.

They should also try to get as many parties as possible into their alliance.They should target 20 LS seats in UP.If Nitish Kumar has a problem with nominating Modi for the top job,the BJP should ask him to leave the alliance.It is learnt that the BJP can win around 15 seats in Bihar on its own.In AP they should join with Chandra Babu Naidu's party and TRS party.They can't win anything in TN and Kerala.Still they should try to split the votes and spoil the chances of the Dravidian parties.Only then the fake secular remark will vanish from Indian politics.

As mentioned above a lot needs to be done.If the BJP fights the 2014 LS elections under the leadership of Modi,with proper field work,BJP can emerge as the single largest party.If it emerges,then there will be only two possibilities.Either,there will be a post-poll alliance.The secular SP,DMK,BSP,ADMK etc., might support the BJP and they can form a govt.Or,we may see a non-BJP govt.That is,a non-congress Prime Minister(like Deve Gowda or Nitish Kumar :D) with the backing of Congress.If this is going to happen,then the govt will not last for more than 2 years.Again there will be elections.

Projecting Modi,will put the BJP back-on-track and will reimpose some faith on the party.People will think twice to play the secular card to corner Modi or BJP.So whether Modi becomes PM or not,is not something the BJP should worry about.Instead it should realize that it is a national party and it should call the shots.If the BJP wants to survive,it should announce Narendra Modi as its PM candidate and fight the elections boldly, irrespective of the outcome of the elections.People like Nitish Kumar should be given 'proper' treatment.

Modern Revolution

For the past few weeks,protests,agitations,self-immolations,assaults on tourists etc has been rocking Tamil Nadu.These protests has gained an attention all over India.Students have come out in open and are taking part in protests.The pro-Srilankan Tamil groups are fighting for justice.As usual our politicians are making the most of use of this issue.Undoubtedly Tamil Nadu is facing a charged atmosphere.But why?What's the motive of these protesters?Is it to get a separate province or country for Srilankan Tamils?Or to declare Rajapakse a war criminal and hang him?Or to conduct an independent probe on what happened in Srilanka during the 2009 war against LTTE?Or to support the America's resolution against Srilanka?Well each group gives its own demand..

Am seeing status updates in facebook by various page admins supporting the students protests.And even reputed writers like Manushya Puthiran claim the govt was scared of students protests and declared holiday to colleges.The TN govt did the right thing by declaring holidays to colleges.Now we are seeing lot of students coming out in open against the atrocities happening in Srilanka.Where did this 'Tamil feeling' go when the genocide in Lanka was at its peak?Even at that time,the same pro-Tamil groups were shouting against Lankan govt and Indian govt especially.If there is one politician who has never changed his stand on Lankan Tamil issue means, it is Vaiko.He has been shouting all these years against the Sinhalas.

Well,I don't support Mr.Vaiko's views(whether am supporting Vaiko or not is a different question).But people should not say that they were not aware of this issue 4 years ago.And that's why am mentioning Mr.Vaiko's name here.

During the 2009 elections,he campaigned heavily against Congress by keeping the Lankan Tamil issue as the point of discussion.Vaiko is known for his fiery speech.But what happened?Vaiko was defeated in his own constituency(Virudhunagar).The worst part is,someone called Manik Thakur(Congress) was elected as MP from that constituency.I have spoken with some people from Virudhunagar,they said they were not aware of anything about him.To put it simply,people have not even heard his name before elections,but just because he contested in a Congress ticket,he could defeat a star candidate like Vaiko.The point to be noted is,when the genocide was going on full swing in Sri Lanka,here we had elections.Even a layman knows that the Central govt,led by Congress was behind the Sri Lankan govt.But none bothered about it.The DMK+Congress alliance was able to win around 28 MP seats in Tamil Nadu.This clearly proved that the Lankan Tamil problem had little impact on that election.

As far as I know,right to vote is the most significant part of democracy.Only during elections we can punish a govt for all its wrong doings by voting them out of power.But our people didn't vote against Congress+DMK.They all were convinced by Dr.Kalaignar Karunanidhi's  6 hr fast in the marina beach it seems.Now all of a sudden they are protesting/agitating/immolating.I strongly believe there are politicians behind this students protests.I don't know who are those politicians(well,am not supposed to give any names based on assumption in forums).These students didn't come forward when the Mullaiperiyar issue was going on.They didn't protest against the Karnataka govt for not releasing Cauvery water on-time.Because the Cauvery water was not released,TN farmers incurred heavy losses and some even committed suicides(paper news).We are not even bothered about our own problems,but now we are fighting for justice.Unbelievable.

I don't expect the students to come forward and protest against everything.But before going on a strike,people should have a clear knowledge about what should be the outcome of the strike and what are all the possible outcomes.This applies not only to students but also to others.Now can anyone explain me one useful outcome of these protests?The America's resolution has nothing against Srilanka.Instead of forcing the Lankan govt,it merely requests them to take some measures for the upliftment of Tamils and the noble Srilankan govt rejected it too.So all the human rights talks has come to an end with that.

Another issue which is creating a huge tension is the assault on tourists.In Tanjore some Buddhist monks were assaulted by the public.And in Egmore one Buddhist monk was beaten severely by the so-called-Tamil-supporters.He says "enga Thamizhangala konnuttu inga varringlaa da?"(after killing Tamilians you people are coming here?).The TN govt and the police should ensure that such non-sense doesn't happen again.First of all we should understand something about the Buddhist monks.If what I heard is to be believed, these monks are behind discriminating Tamils in Srilanka.They control the politics in Srilanka and they are responsible for the genocide carried out by the Lankan govt.And the Buddhists are good in martial arts.They know how to defend themselves.

Sensible people should think - what will be the outcome of assaulting a Buddhist monk?Do we know whether this monk supported genocide?If everyone can show their anger against anyone as they wish,then why do we have something called law?Now that we have assaulted this monk,so what will the other nations do now?They will declare TN as an unsafe place to visit.Investors will think twice before investing in Tamil Nadu.The western media will give an image to TN that Tamilians are violent like how it gave an image that Indians are rapists.In India rapes happen,women needs to be careful - agreed.But are the western countries safe for women?No - they are even worse.But because our media(like TOI),created a sensation out of the Delhi rape case,the western nations exploited it.Same way,these protests and assaults will be exaggerated by the media and TN will be projected in a very bad light in international arena.

In 1991 Rajiv Gandhi was killed by LTTE(allegedly by LTTE).Some people even support his death.Such people should ask - did Rajiv Gandhi's assassination do any good for the Tamil society?After Rajiv Gandhi's assassination,no nation came forward to support LTTE.Right from the beginning some people branded LTTE as a terrorist organization and Rajiv's assassination proved it.Atleast after that incident,people should have realized that violence can never offer a proper solution.Now such assaults(against the monks/SL tourists),if not controlled in the beginning itself,we may even face another disaster.

In Balakumaran's novel 'Udayar',there are references to Buddhist monks.The Buddhist monks brainwashed Raja Raja Cholan's daughter Chandramalli and she was converted to Buddhism.Raja Raja Cholan is a strong supporter of the 'Sanatana Dharma'(Hinduism).He meets his daughter and asks her the reason,for her conversion.She says Buddhists saved her life(through medication) and she was attracted by the principles of Buddha/Buddhism.The Chola king comes out angrily.

His son,Rajendra Chola is an angry young man.When he heard the news of his sister's conversion,he says he will destroy the entire Buddhism.He even gets ready to burn the Buddhist temples.But the great Chola king, Raja Raja Cholan stops him.He advises him not to act in haste.

'Give some donations to the Buddhist temples in Nagapattinam.Never show your anger towards them.But remember this - the Buddhists are attracting people by providing medication.We construct as many hospitals as possible.Our people should learn all the advancements in the field of medicine.Keep giving donations to the Buddhist temples,but make it sure that they(Buddhist monks),doesn't come out of Nagapattinam.Their presence should be restricted to Nagapattinam.We should celebrate all the Hindu festivals in a grand-manner. We should try to unite all the communities of the Hinduism.'

Rajendra Cholan understands his father and realizes making decisions in haste will never yield a long term solution.If you want to win someone,you should form a strategy.

Am not sure to what extent the above incident is true.All I know is Raja Raja Cholan had a daughter called Chandramalli who got converted to Buddhism and rechristened herself as 'Madhevadigal' and later on realized that she was converted by the Buddhist monks to take revenge on her father.Then she even renounced Buddhism and spent her life in Tanjore.The reason for quoting this conversation is to stress the point that acting in haste will never yield a proper solution.

The Lankan Tamils had 2 chances.One chance got spoiled because Prabhakaran was over ambitious.I always felt, Prabhakaran should have accepted for a reasonable political solution,when the LTTE was on driver's seat.But he was too ambitious and finally ended up with nothing.The second chance was during 2009 elections.The DMK should have forced the Central govt to bring a ceasefire in Srilanka.Had the Central govt not pressed the Lankan govt for the ceasefire,DMK should have pulled out of UPA.But unfortunately in a 'spectrum' of confusions,the DMK didn't do that.After almost everything is over,I don't know for what these warriors are fighting.

Instead of doing non-sense like self immolation/going on protests,think peacefully.I would even suggest entering into politics.Nominate a candidate of your choice.Stay united and vote for him.Make it sure that your voice is heard in the Parliament.Next year we or during this year end,we may face Lok Sabha elections. Vote against people who failed to save the Tamil race in Sri Lanka.Instead of supporting the assaults on tourists,its better to think and form a strategy to bring the change which you wish.

And please don't expect anything about comedy shows like recent TESO,DMK withdrawing support to UPA govt etc in this post.This is a serious article.

படித்ததில் பிடித்தது - விடியலைத் தேடி

இந்த படித்ததில் பிடித்தது பகுதியில் வாரமொருமுறை பதிய வேண்டுமென நினைத்திருந்தேன்.ஆனால் நேரம் ஒதுக்க இயலவில்லை.இந்தப் பதிவில் நான் அலச இருக்கும் புத்தகம் 'விடியலைத் தேடி'.இது எழுத்தாளர் ரமணிசந்திரன் அவர்கள் எழுதிய நாவல்.

படிப்பதற்கு முன், பெண் எழுத்தாளர் என்பதால் பெண்களைப் பற்றிய 'புரட்சிகரமான' கருத்துக்கள் ஏதேனும் கூறுவாரோ என்று பயந்தேன்.ஆனால் இவர் வேறு விதமான எழுத்தாளர்.ஆங்கிலத்தில் சொன்னால் இவர் ஒரு 'optimistic writer'.இப்போது விடியலைத் தேடி புறப்படுவோம்.

கதை அனுபமா என்கிற பெண்ணைச் சுற்றி நடக்கும் சம்பவங்கள் தான்.அனுபமா தான் இந்த கதையின் கதாநாயகி.சிறு வயதிலேயே ஒரு விபத்தில் தாய் தந்தையரை இழந்து தவித்த அனுபமாவை வளர்த்த பெருமை அவளுடைய சித்தி தனபாக்கியத்தையும் சித்தப்பாவையுமேச் சேரும்.இந்த தனபாக்கியம் ஒரு தன பைத்தியம்.இவள் அனுபமாவை வளர்க்க முன் வந்ததே கூட அவளுடைய அப்பாவின் ஆயுள் காப்பீட்டுப் பணத்துக்காகத் தான்.இவர்கள் அனுபமாவை ஒரு அடிமை போல நடத்துகிறார்கள்.அனைத்து வேலைகளையும் அனுபமா தான் செய்ய வேண்டும்.செய்யத் தவறினால் அடி,உதை ஏன் சூடு வைக்கவும் கூட சித்தி தயங்க மாட்டாள்.இதையும் சித்தப்பன் கேட்க வக்கில்லாதவன்.அவன் ஒரு பொண்டாட்டி தாசன்.

ஆனால் அனுபமாவோ சாந்தஸ்வரூபி.அனைவரையும் அனுசரித்து செல்லும் குணம் கொண்டவள்.தனபாக்கியமும் அவள் கணவனும் செய்த ஒரே உருப்படியான காரியம் அனுபமாவை படிக்க வைத்தது தான்.இப்படித் தொடங்கும் கதையை வைத்து இதுவும் தொலைகாட்சிகளில் வரும் மெகா தொடர் ரகம் என்று ஒதுக்கிவிடுவீர்களேயானால் நீங்கள் ஒரு சிறப்பான நாவலை ஒதுக்குகிறீர்கள் என்றே அர்த்தம்.சித்தி தன்னை ஒரு மாபெரும் பணக்காரருக்கு இரண்டாந்தாரமாய் மணமுடித்துத் தர முடிவு செய்துவிடுகிறாள்.அனுபமா மறுத்தால் சூடு போட்டுவிடுவேன் என மிரட்டி அடக்கி விடுகிறாள்.நரக வேதனையை சமாளிக்க முடியாமல்,தன்னையே ஒரு ஆறு மாத காலமாய் சுற்றி வந்த ரகுபதி என்பவனோடு,அனுபமா, இரவோடு இரவாக வீட்டை விட்டு ஓடிவிடுகிறாள்.இந்த இருளிலிருந்து விடுபட ரகுபதியுடன் ஒரு புதிய விடியலைத் தேடி புறப்படும் அனுபமா ஏகப்பட்ட திருப்பங்களைச் சந்திக்கிறாள்.அந்தத் திருப்பங்களை ஒருவித படபடப்போடும், விறுவிறுப்பாகவும் சற்று திகிலாகவும் சொல்லி இருக்கிறார் ஆசிரியர்.

அவள் சந்திக்கும் திருப்பங்களில் முக்கியமானது ரகுபதி பெண்களை விற்கும் ஒரு புரோக்கர் என்பது.இந்த ரகுபதிக்கு அந்த மணவாளப் பெருமாளே(சித்தி பார்த்து வைத்த கிழட்டு மாப்பிள்ளை) தேவலையோ என்று நினைக்கும் அளவிற்கு நொந்து போகும் அனுபமா,ஒடிந்து போய் உட்கார்ந்து விடவில்லை. ரகுபதி மற்றும் அவன் கூட்டாளிகளிடமிருந்து அதே லாட்ஜில் தங்கி இருக்கும் ஒருவனின் உதவியால் தப்பி விடுகிறாள்.அவளுக்கு உதவுபவனின் பெயர் தான் வித்யாதரன்.இந்த வித்யாதரன் தான் இந்தக் கதையின் நாயகன். ஆசிரியை வித்தியாதரனின் கதாபாத்திரத்தை மிகச் சிறப்பாகவே அமைத்திருக்கிறார்.

இந்த வித்யாதரன் அனுபமாவிடம் மிகக் கடுமையாக நடந்து கொள்ளும் சம்பவங்களை மிக யதார்த்தமாக வடிவமைத்திருக்கிறார்.ஒரு சில நேரங்களில் 'சே என்ன மனிதன் இவன்.அனுபமா போன்ற ஒரு அப்பாவிப் பெண்ணிடம் இத்தனை கடுமை காட்டுகிறானே' என்று கூட தோன்றியது. ஆனால் அப்பாவிப் பெண்களில் கூட சுயநலவாதிகளும் ஆபத்தானவர்களும்   உண்டு என்பது வித்தியாதரனின் கருத்து.அதில் தவறு காண நமக்கு உரிமை இல்லை.வித்யாதரன் அனுபமாவை அவளுடைய சித்தி சித்தப்பாவிடமிருந்தும் கூட காப்பாற்றுகிறான்.அத்தனையும் ஒரு காரியமாகத்தான்.

இது தான் கதையின் மிக சுவாரஸ்யமான கட்டம்.அனுபமாவை தன காதலியாக நடிக்க வைக்கிறான்.அதற்கு பெரும் பணம் வழங்குவதாகவும் உறுதியளிக்கிறான். இது வெறும் நடிப்பு தான், இப்போது வித்யாதரன் முதலாளி அனுபமா அவனிடம் சம்பளத்திற்கு வேலை பார்ப்பவள். பார்க்கப்போவதோ காதலி வேலை.இவை அனைத்தும் மரணப்படுக்கையில் கிடக்கும் வித்தியாதரனின் தாயாரை மகிழ்விக்கவே. வித்யாதரனும் கூட வெளிநாட்டிலிருந்த பொது அனுராகா என்ற பெண்ணை காதலித்து ஏமாந்து போகிறான்.தன தாயாரின் உடல் நிலையை கவனிப்பதற்காக இந்திய வருமாறு அழைத்த போது,தனக்கு ஆயா வேலை செய்ய விருப்பமில்லை என்று அனுராகா மறுத்துவிடுகிறாள். இதனாலேயே வித்யாதரனுக்கு பெண் வர்கத்தின் மீதே வெறுப்பு.அவனைப் பொறுத்த வரையில் உலகிலேயே ஒரு பெண் தான் போற்றுதளுக்குரியவள். அது அவனுடைய தாயார் சிவகாமி அம்மாள் மட்டுமே. இப்போது அந்த அனுராகாவாகத் தான் நம் அனுபமா நடிக்கப் போகிறாள்.

கதையின் முக்கிய கதாபாத்திரமே இந்த சிவகாமி அம்மாள் தான்.அவர் மிகுந்த புத்தி கூர்மை உடையவர்.எழுந்து உட்காரக் கூட சிரமப்படும் நிலையில் இருக்கும் சிவகாமி அம்மாளைப் பார்க்க வித்யாதரனுக்கு ரொம்பவே சங்கடமாக இருந்தது.சிறு வயதிலிருந்தே தாய் தந்தையரை இழந்த அனுபமாவிற்கோ சிவகாமி அம்மாளை ரொம்பவும் பிடித்து விடுகிறது. தான் சம்பளத்திற்கு நடிக்கிறோம் என்பதை மறந்து அனுபமா சிவகாமி அம்மாளை நேசிக்கத் தொடங்கிவிடுகிறாள்.மற்றபடி வித்யாதரனுக்கும் அனுபமாவிற்கும் எப்போதும் ஏழாம் பொருத்தம் தான்.ஒருவரையொருவர் மட்டம் தட்டி கொள்ளாத நிமிடங்கள் மிகக் குறைவு,அரிதானவை என்று கூட சொல்லலாம்.

கதை இப்படிச் செல்ல,சிவகாமி அம்மாள் பிடிவாதமாக அனுபமாவை வித்யாதரனுக்குத் திருமணம் செய்து வைத்து விடுகிறார்கள்.இதுவும் தற்காலீகமே  என்று நினைத்த அனுபமாவிற்கு மேலும் ஒரு அதிர்ச்சி சிவகாமி உடல் நிலை பூரண குணமடைந்து விடுகிறது.உண்மையைச் சொல்லிவிடலாம் என்றால் அவர் அதிர்ச்சி எதையும் தாங்க மாட்டார் என்று டாக்டர் எச்சரித்தது நினைவிற்கு வந்தது.இதனிடையில் அனுபமா தன்னையும் அறியாமல் வித்யாதறனைக் காதலிக்கத் தொடங்கி விடுகிறாள்.

அனுபமா உல் மனதில் வித்தியாதரனின் மீது ஒரு வித ஈர்ப்பு இருப்பதை இந்த நாடகத்திற்கு அவள் ஒப்புக்கொள்வதற்கு முன்னரே நமக்கு புரிய வைத்துவிடுகிறார் ஆசிரியை.

"உழைப்பில் எந்தவிதக் கேவலமும் இல்லை என்று நினைத்தது மறந்து, இவன் ரசிக்கும் விதமாய்ப் பெருமையுடன் காட்ட அவளது கைகளில் மென்மையோ தூய்மையான வழுவழுப்போ இல்லையே என்று ஏக்கம் பிறந்தது." - இது போன்றதொரு மனநிலையை நான் சில பெண்களிடம் கவனித்திருக்கிறேன். இதை ஏன் குறிப்பிடுகிறேன் என்றால்,கதையில் அத்தனை யதார்த்தம் என்று விளக்கத்தான்.

கதையில் மற்றொரு பகீர் திருப்பம்.அனுபமா வித்யாதரன் மேல் கொண்ட காதலை உணர்ந்து நாணும் வேளையில்  தான்,அவள் யாராக நடிக்க வந்தாளோ  அவளே அங்கு வந்து சேர்ந்து விடுகிறாள்.அனுராகாவின் வருகை அனுபமாவை நிலைகுலையச் செய்கிறது.அனுபமாவை அனுராக பாடாய் படுத்துகிறாள்,வீட்டை விட்டு துரத்தவும் முடிவு செய்கிறாள்.இடையில் காணமல் போன இந்தக் கதையின் கெடுமதியாளன்(villain),ரகுபதி மீண்டும் வருகிறான்.அவனும் அனுபமாவிற்கு தொல்லை கொடுக்கிறான்.இதை எல்லாம் சமாளிக்க வேண்டிய வித்யாதரன் எங்கோ காணமல் போக, சிவகாமி அம்மாள் எப்படி இவற்றைச் சமாளிக்கிறார்?அனுபமா என்ன ஆனாள்? அனுராகா என்பவள் உண்மையில் யார்?அவளுடைய பின்புலம் என்ன? ரகுபதி என்ன ஆகிறான் - இவை அனைத்தும் கதையின் இறுதி அத்தியாயங்களில் சுவாரஸ்யமாகக் கூறப்பட்டிருக்கிறது.

அனுபமா அனுராகாவாக மாறி மீண்டும் அனுராகாவாகவே அனுபமாவாகும் காட்சிகளை ஆசிரியை தனக்கே உரிய பாணியில் நகர்த்தியிருக்கிறார்.இந்தக் கதைக்கு ஒரு 'drama touch' இருந்தாலும் கூட,விறுவிறுப்பாக நகர்கிறது.சில வசனங்கள் சுளீரென்று விழுகிறது.

' உன் சித்தி என்றால் உன்னை விட இரு மடங்கு வயது அதிகமிருக்க வேண்டும்.அவளை எதிர்க்க உன் உடம்பில் பலம் இல்லாமல் போவானேன்?திட்டுவாள் கத்துவாள் என்றால் உன்னாலும் அது முடியும் தானே?சுருக்கமாகச் சொல்லப்போனால் நீயும் முதுகெலும்புள்ள மனுஷி தானே?நிமிர்ந்து நிற்பதற்கென்ன?

உன் சித்தியின் சூடுகோலுக்குப் பயந்தா இந்த ரகுபதியுடன் வெளியேறினாய்? ஒன்று இரண்டு சூடு போட்டால் தான் என்ன?அதற்காக இந்த நரகத்திலா விழுவாய்?"  - வித்யாதரன் அனுபமாவிடம் பேசும் வசனங்கள். நாம் அனைவருமே முதுகெலும்பு உள்ளவர்கள் தானே. பிரச்சனைகளைக் கண்டு ஒடுவானேன்?நின்று சமாளிப்பது தானே முறையாகும்.பிரச்சனைகளைக் கண்டு ஓடுவது ஒரு தீர்வாகாது என்பது தான் இந்த வசனத்தின் உள்ளர்த்தம்.

என்னையும் அறியாமல் அனுபமா மீது ஒரு அனுதாபம் ஏற்பட்டது என்பதை மறுக்க இயலாது.வித்யாதரன் மீது சில நேரங்களில் வெறுப்புத் தோன்றினாலும் கூட இந்த வித்தியாதரனின் மனநிலையிலும் நம்மில் பெரும்பாலானோர் சில நாட்களாவது இருந்திருப்போம்.இந்த மனநிலையைக் கடக்காமல் வாழ்வது மிகக் கடினம்.

அனுபமா சித்தியின் கொடுமை தாங்காமல் ஏதோ ஒரு விடியலைத் தேடி ரகுபதி போன்ற காலிப்பையலின் சுயரூபம் தெரியாமல் வீட்டை விட்டு ஓடி விடுகிறாள். ஆனால் இன்று நாட்டில் பல அனுபமாக்கள் கண்ணின் மணியாகக் காக்கும் பெற்றோரை இருளென நினைத்து அரைவேக்காட்டு ரகுபதிகளுடன் பொய்யான விடியலைத் தேடி அலைந்து காலத்தின் ஓட்டத்தில் தொலைந்தே போகிறார்கள்.தங்களுடைய அறியாமையால், தவறான பாதையில் செல்லும் அனுபமாக்களில் சிலரேனும்  இந்தக் கதையைப் படித்து திருந்த வாய்ப்புண்டு.எல்லாப் பெண்களுமே அனுராகாப் போலத்தான் என எண்ணிப் பெண் வர்கத்தை வெறுக்கும் வித்யாதரன்களுக்கு   அனுபமாக்களும் இருக்கிறார்கள் என்பதையும், ரகுபதி போன்ற ஆண் அரக்கர்களும் இருக்கிறார்கள் என்பதையும் இந்தக் கதை  உணர வைக்கும்.

இது போல இந்தக் கதையில் பல சுவாரஸ்யமான விஷயங்கள் உள்ளன. நான் மேலே விவரித்தது ஒரு சிறு பகுதியைத் தான்.'Feel Good' வகைக் கதைகளின் பிரியர் நீங்களென்றால்,விடியலைத் தேடி உங்களுக்கான நாவல் என்றே சொல்லலாம்.

The Never-Ending Viswaroopam Controversy

Long back I thought of writing about the DTH controversy surrounding the Kamal Hassan starrer Viswaroopam.But before I started the article,the controversy ended.But that didn't give the much needed relief to Kamal Hassan.As usual our religious groups started protesting against the movie.But this is common.This is not the first time a movie is facing protests by a religious group or casteist forces in Tamil Nadu.Lot of movies like Ore Oru Gramathile(deals with reservation policies),Roja,Bombay etc have faced lot of issues.Ore Oru Gramathile was sorted out in court.But this is the first time(to my knowledge) a movie certified by the censor board has been banned by the govt.

The reason given by the Tamil Nadu govt is that this movie might cause law and order problem. Is it an excuse?Just because a bunch of people doesn't like a movie,does it mean that the movie should be banned? If at all there is going to be a law and order problem,it will be because of some fringe elements.So it is the duty of the govt to provide security for the movie and to punish those who cause law and order problem.But here the govt took the other route and banned the movie.When a govt passes such orders to appease one particular section of the society,that itself will disturb the existing communal harmony.

A small flashback.

"Shah Bano, a 62 year old Muslim woman and mother of five from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, was divorced by her husband in 1978. The Muslim family law (marriage, gifts, inheritance, adoption and a few other civil laws are under the purview of personal laws in India - they are different for Christians, Muslims and Hindus) allows the husband to do this and not the wife: the husband just needs to say the word Talaq (meaning divorce) three times before two witnesses for a valid divorce.

Shah Bano, because she had no means to support herself and her children, approached the courts for securing maintenance from her husband. When the case reached the Supreme Court of India, seven years had elapsed. The Supreme Court invoked Section 125 of Code of Criminal Procedure, which applies to everyone regardless of caste, creed, or religion. It ruled that Shah Bano be given maintenance money, similar to alimony.

Some Muslims felt threatened by what they perceived as an encroachment of the Muslim Personal Law, and protested loudly at the judgment. Their spokesmen were Obaidullah Khan Azmi and Syed Shahabuddin. They had formed an organization in 1973 known as the All India Muslim Personal Law Board devoted to upholding what they saw as Muslim Personal Law." - source wiki


Targeting the minority votebank,Mr.Rajiv Gandhi,passed the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Divorce) Act,which diluted the secular judgement of the Supreme Court.This triggered a huge debate all over India.Later on in 1989,Rajiv ji allowed the 'shilanyas' to be held at the disputed site in Ayodhya.This was seen as a green signal for the construction of Ram temple in the disputed site.This he did to get the Hindu votes.These decisions intensified the Ram Temple Movement and it resulted in the demolition of the mosque. When we start disapproving the law and court to appease a section of society,it will result in disaster.

These Muslim groups which protests against Viswaroopam,Thuppakki etc were quiet when Mr.Owaisi gave that hate speech.When a speech like that cannot disturb the communal harmony,how can a 2 and half hour movie?Mr.Owaisi is a democratically elected MP.I updated a status in facebook when I came to know about the ban on Viswaroopam that "...hereafter every caste/religious groups will demand a special screening of new movies and they may expect some commission from the producers,if the producer fails to give the same,they will approach the govt and the movie will be banned.". Within 2 days,some Hindu outfits protested against Ameer's Aadhi Bhagavan and filed a complaint against the movie.Now they are demanding a special screening of the movie even before it goes to censors.This is going to be the outcome of this ban.The govt has set a very bad example by banning Viswaroopam.And regarding Aadhi Bhagavan,the interesting point is,director Ameer issued a press statement that he can't comment about the ongoing Viswaroopam controversy without watching the movie. And now his movie was targeted.Well,I don't support the Hindu outfits' protests either.It is equally dangerous.


Apart from the protests of Islamic organizations and minority appeasement,there might be other reasons as well. Some people like Pawan Kalyan,Kalaignar Karunanidhi say,the TN govt is targeting Kamal as he didn't give the satellite rights to the channel which the ruling party supports.Some days back, Kamal was present in finance minister Mr.Chidambaram's book release function.There he said something like,someone wearing Dhothi should become Prime Minister.There are rumors doing rounds that only because of these reasons, the Tamil Nadu CM is angry with Kamal.I don't know whether these are the reasons for the ban,but the activities of the state govt gives me a feel that Kamal Hassan is being victimized.All of a sudden the lawyer who argued for govt said,the censor certificate for Viswaroopam was not obtained on legal means and huge corruption is involved in getting censor certificates.If that is true,the govt should have filed a case against censor board,not against the movie.The Madras High court lifted the ban on Viswaroopam after almost 6 hours of argument.The judge watched the movie(which itself is not necessary) and said there is nothing against Muslims in it.After this only he lifted the ban. But within few hours the govt appealed again before another bench and the bench upheld the ban on the movie.In so many theaters the banners were burnt and people who went to watch the movie,were sent back.The police even lathicharged on them.


Even though the court has banned the movie again,I don't find a proper reason to stop the shows which were already started after the first judgement.There is no necessity chase one actor or movie.There are lot of problems the people of Tamil Nadu are facing.Power shortage,water shortage,corruption etc.To be honest,I feel this govt is taking steps to solve these issues and we have to wait to see how successful these steps are going to be.But giving so much of importance to any religious groups may result in law and order problem.And recent incidents like protests infront of the US embassy,protests against Thuppakki and now the big Viswaroopam has shattered the popular belief that Tamil Nadu is the most secular and peaceful state.And the govt's move to ban the movie should be vehemently condemned.This is an assault on freedom of expression.Today it is Kamal and tomorrow it may be anyone else.


P.S. : I have criticized Kamal Hassan on so many occasions and am not a fan of him either,but now he needs the support of sensible people.I am showing my support to him through this blog post.
