The Covaxin politics

Covaxin got WHO approval for Emergency use. After a long battle Covaxin got this approval.Remember how our Chinese slaves and bootlickers were mocking Covaxin? They said it is Gaumutra, it is not a real vaccine etc.Chattisgarh Congress CM even banned Covaxin in his state and was so proud of it.Here slaves and psychos in Tamil Nadu linked actor Vivek's death to Covaxin

There was even a campaign by a bunch of idiots not to take Covaxin. We also had cheerleaders of pfizer (Rahul Gandhi, Chetan Bhagat etc) who were constantly questioning the credibility of Covaxin...

There's nothing wrong in choosing a product of our own choice. People have all the rights to prefer foreign product over Indian product, but, a strong campaign against the Indian products reminds me how traitors hailed foreign products and abused the Swadeshi products, before independence. Now you know why you people are called anti-nationals

Covaxin was projected as a BJP vaccine. Are scientists at Bharat Biotech BJP partymen?that much trust these morons have on Indian products and Indian scientists.Lot of people have taken Covishield, which is an approved vaccine and people like me never questioned the credibility of it.If you want to argue that a so and so product is bad, you need to understand the research behind it and should have some knowledge to interpret the data. These people belong to the same category who will preach rationalism and say how important science is, yet they lack common sense

Understand the politics behind delaying the approval Covaxin. Chinese vaccines like Sinopharm and Sinovac were approved immediately by WHO without much data... Later the Chinese officials themselves admitted these vaccines are ineffective. The pressure to allow pfizer in India did not have any impact and it's still not approved. There may be technical reasons for not allowing it, but that definitely influenced the WHO approval for Covaxin

Bharat Biotech has been providing data to WHO for almost 6 months, yet the approval was delayed. Finally, they approved it couple of days back. Bharat Biotech has not made any changes to its vaccine formula. It's the same vaccine for which approval was delayed for a long time. Our trust on Indian scientists and the government is vindicated

The Chinese bootlickers who call themselves as communists are still cheering for Chinese vaccines. Every communist, Congress and lieft wing liberal who spoke against the Indian vaccine should hang their heads in shame

Vinodhaya Sitham - Review

#VinodhayaSitham is a beautiful fantasy drama which captures the human emotions well... Gone are the days our Tamil cinema directors needed a hero with a fan following and mandatory songs and preachy punchlines. Guess what, this movie is directed by Samuthrakani, who has earned an image for being preachy in movies. He has acted in an important role in Vinodhaya Sitham and he is very convincing

Before going further, I came to know that Vinodhaya Sitham is a stage play of Dummies drama team. I had the privilege of watching their drama Valai 3 years back and also met Mr.Sreevathson. I introduced myself as a Sujatha fan and he responded that "we are Sujatha fans".

I am standing right next to Sreevathson sir(blue shirt)

It was such a pleasure meeting him and I have written about it in this same blog. (http://dream---life.blogspot.com/2018/08/valai-technological-web.html?m=1)

It's not at all surprising to see Vinodhaya Sitham coming out as a beautiful feel good film. Opening credits say "story" by Mr.Sreevathson and he also has worked on dialogues. Appreciate director Mr.Samuthrakani for working with him.

Vinodhaya Sitham is all about Parasuraman, an arrogant man who considers himself as Mr.Perfect and is so proud of his achievement. In fact he is too egoistic, for him only his opinions matters and he is the only knowledgeable person. Time proves him wrong. Whatever he saw isn't the complete picture. Time shows him the real picture and what happens to Parasuraman is what Vinodhaya Sitham is all about.

Thambhi Ramaiya as Parasuraman is brilliant while Samuthrakani as time has done exceptionally well too. The entire supporting cast is too good that the movie looks realistic.

The main concept of the movie is that none is dependent on others. Whatever has to happen will happen. It's all decided and you can call this God or fate or time or any other power, but the fact is there's a force which is powerful than us and controls us.

One may argue against this concept and claim if everything is decided by a force what's the point of taking any efforts and may claim this is demotivating. Well it's not. The movie says you will get what you deserve. You can understand this if you observe the interview and promotion scenes.

Also the movie says, we human beings are blessed with humanity and it's completely our choice to be humane and that's the only thing we are blessed with. It's the choice of individual to spread humanity by being kind, polite, helpful, disciplined and respectful towards others.

Not everyone can get a second chance to correct their mistakes. Vinodhaya Sitham is a disturbing movie which makes us feel for our mistakes and compels us at least to think that we should be responsible going forward.

Hats off director Samuthrakani for coming out of your cliche porali stuff and directing a beautiful fantasy film. Not just direction, even as an actor Samuthrakani is different in this movie. He doesn't preach humanity and love with 10 page dialogues or proverbs or quotes. His expressions are sharp enough to disturb you.

I have always felt novels and stage dramas can be made as full length feature films, instead of taking Hollywood movies as an inspiration. Samuthrakani has done it. He has chosen the right path, all the best Samuthrakani 😊

The movie ends with a beautiful dialogue

"சொà®°்க்கத்தில ஜாதி, மதம், à®®ொà®´ி இதெல்லாà®®் கிடையாது"

"அப்போ நரகத்தில...?"

"à®…à®™்க இருந்து தான உங்களை கூட்டிட்டு போà®±ேன்..."

Vinodhaya Sitham is a must watch meaningful feel good film 😊😊

Rudra Thandavam Review

#Rudhrathandavam is a well made commercial film... went to theatre after a very long time 😀... The propaganda that it's a casteist film or against Christianity is a good publicity for the movie... actually it is not against any community...it deals more with drug peddling and media's false propaganda, director Mohan G has maintained a right balance in exposing the anti social elements and an engaging screenplay... He has taken enough care to see that it doesn't become a documentary...

Actor Richard looks convincing as Inspector Rudra Prabhakaran...the role doesn't demand an Oscar winning performance, it needs a hero with well built physique, who can act little bit... Richard suits perfectly... hope atleast Rudra Thandavam gives him a new lease of life... Heroine Dharsha Gupta does her job, she comes only in 5-6 scenes and she did what was expected out of her...

Gautham Menon rocks as Vathapi...his sarcastic dialogues like '25 varusham service aam, kudukka chain kooda illaye' etc gets very good reception from audience... Gautam Menon should continue as an actor too... just loved his performance...

The movie mainly speaks about how the PCR act is misused...it takes guys to use the term Crypto Christians in Tamil cinema...hats off Mohan G...I have written this so many times in facebook and my blog - once you convert your religion, you cannot avail the benefits under SC category... it's really sad to see censor muting the dialogue that 'if you can't use your caste after converting, who will convert'... that's what the movie is all about

Director hits sixer by casting Radharavi as lawyer Indeasena...his dialogues like 'Ambedkar is not a leader for one particular community, he is a national leader...he should be celebrated on par with Mahatma Gandhi',' i feel proud to belong to 'pattiyal community(SC)'...

Music director Jubin's bgm is perfect, songs(I think just 2 songs), could have been bit better... very happy to see Vajpayee's photo in court... Malavika Avinash comes looks dignified as a judge...

More than all these points, I appreciate the director for exposing the media's vulture like behaviour... you can relate Puthuyathalaimurai, Sun tv , b grade websites like the news minute, to the scenes shown in the movie...movie explains how these so called youtubers twist the incidents and brings in casteist angle out of nowhere, how protests are stages etc...no wonder these channels are screaming 😀

There's a character named Anwar bhai, he is a honest NCB(Narcotics Control Bureau) official...Joseph(Thambhi Ramaiya) is such an honest man, who almost dies being honest and loyal... Indeasena (Radharavi) is a brilliant lawyer, who says how casteism can divide the people...Jayam S K Gopi as a honest DC...Deepa as Maran's mother(SC) with a brilliant emotional performance in the climax expresses concerns about how drugs has ruined the next generation...

If you observe all the characters above, they all are shown as people from the same communities which the vulture media claims has been projected in bad light...yet this movie is communal according to our press(I don't want to complete that word, then our feminists will abuse me)...

With absolutely no star value(except Gautam Menon), this director is able to create a curiosity and deliver commercial hits without compromising on his ideology... my respect for this man has increased...

Only Mohan G has the guts to expose that politician who comes in blue shirt with cooling glass 😀

Rudra Thandavam - an enjoyable dance of the 'right', probably the first time in the history of Tamil cinema... you can watch it with your family in theatres with all precautions...

Rajni and politics

Rajni is again in the news, the reason is same, the age-old-political-entry stunt.. There memes doing rounds against Rajni thinking that he is a RSS man,BJP fellow etc.Well I don't agree with the statement that actors should not join politics. India is a democratic country and anyone can join politics. But, why am I criticizing or mocking Rajni?

He has been making political statements since 90s and some of them were hilarious. In 90s, 'Thamizh Naattil vedigundu kalaachaaram paravi vittadhu, Jayalalithaa aatchiku vandhaal Thamizh Naattai Aandavanaala kooda kaappatha mudiyadhu' etc.. Well, there is nothing wrong in making political statements too. Now we have twitter/facebook/whatsapp etc where almost everyone is a journalist, a critic. So there is nothing wrong in making statements too. But he used his fans for his personal gains. In 2004, I have witnessed Rajni fans campaigning against PMK and they were distributing the audio cassette with Rajni's speech. He will 'voice' out his support during elections and his fans will be doing all the field work. If you are not sure about your political ambitions, why do you involve your fans in such activities?

In 2004, he opposed PMK and gave a speech against the party and urged the people to defeat PMK. But PMK won all the 6 seats it contested. Rajni didn't have a face to acknowledge the defeat. He either underestimated the Tamil Nadu electorate or overestimated himself. How can a 45 minute speech make a difference in politics - which is fulled with caste, money, alcohol, biriyani, rowdyism, religion etc? I still remember that speech, it would end up like this 'nanbargalidam thanjam pugundhu vittadhaal, idhark mel vimarsikka manam varavillai' -  PMK was part of the DMK led alliance then, so (D)MK was Rajni's nanbar and he is not going harsh against PMK.. He thought, a 15 more mins of his speech would totally wipe out PMK. This clearly shows, Rajni has no idea about politics.

He released the first look of his 'Jaggubhai', exactly on the day of elections in the year 2004, posing himself as a Muslim. The moment, Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam objected to it, he dropped the project. I agree, cinema is a multi-crore business and none would like to face losses. But Rajni, cleverly used the mass media to his advantage. Had PMK not won those 6 seats, TMMK might not have objected Jaggubhai and Rajni might have ended up with another commercial blockbuster. There was a tagline in Jaggubhai - 'Iraivaa, nanbargalidamirundhu kaappaatru, pagaivargalai naan paarthu kolgiren'.Then something happened(heard one Saamiyaar mediated between Rajni and Ramadoss and they became friends. No, that was not Jayendrar).

So Rajni is someone, who did not have a face to meet the public, after a virtual defeat. He did not have the guts to field a candidate on behalf of him, against a party, that attacked his fans. He is someone who thinks his words are more than enough to influence the outcome of an election. He is someone who endorsed DMK-TMC in 96, defended the DMK govt during Coimbatore bomb blasts, offered a half hearted support to BJP in 2004. Before entering politics itself, he has switched sides :D If there is someone who has committed lot of political blunders, without being in politics, then it can only the Superstar Rajnikanth.

After 12 years, now again, he started it.

Jayalalithaa is no more, Kalaignar is inactive in politics, so Rajni thinks, he can try his luck again. Personally, I dont have a problem with Rajni's political entry. He can start a party or join any party, that's his wish. If his approach is convincing, he may be successful.

I am perfectly ok, with any actor, becoming a politician or CM. As if we have only true leaders in active politics. But the criticism against Rajni is valid and would continue for the reasons mentioned above. If Rajni really joins politics and his approach gives some hope that he would be better than the existing parties, we can appreciate him. As of now, I don't have any hopes on Rajni.

Curious case of Yakub Memon

There are some people who are 'curious' to know why was Yakub Memon hanged. There is a false propaganda carried out by some pseudo-liberals who never bothered about victims of terrorist attacks but are only worried about the terrorists.Usually the argument on such cases will be that the 'accused' is innocent,he was misguided by people around him,he was so young that he didn't have the maturity to understand what he was actually doing, due to surroundings and unfortunate circumstances he committed this crime etc etc etc.But this case is little bit different.

As usual, the wannabe liberals, started abusing our judiciary system. The case was going on for the past 22 years, since 1994.These people have outright rejected the arguments of public prosecutor and the judgement given. They are quoting an article of late RAW(Research and Analysis Wing) officer, Mr.B Raman, which went unpublished way back in 2007.Recently,after getting permission from his brother B S Raghavan, the article was published.Based on this article, these fellows are running a campaign as if Yakub Memon was an innocent guy and he helped the investigating agencies in all possible ways,he was assured of not getting death penalty,he voluntarily came forward and surrendered etc, only thing is he helped his brother Tiger Memon, who is the mastermind behind the blasts, without knowing about the bomb blasts and since he was a chartered accountant,it was possible that he was unaware of the activities of Tiger. The saffron govt has hanged Yakub Memon. And 'sudden-patriots' like Shashi Tharoor calls this a cold blooded murder.Nonsense.

If someone tells such a story to you, just reply them in word - 'stupid'.Raman's article only says, Yakub was uncomfortable with ISI and wanted to surrender to the Mumbai police, but his relatives advised him not to surrender and return back to Karachi. While he was all set to return, the Nepal police arrested him based on suspicion and then he was brought back to India. Raman, not a single place in his article, claims Yakub was innocent. He clearly says Yakub Memon and his family members were involved in the conspiracy and they cooperated with ISI till July 1994.Further,the article reads, Yakub deserved death sentence for his conduct and role before July 1994.Then, he has written that since Yakub cooperated well with the investigating agencies and his conduct was good, "there is a strong case for having second thoughts about the suitability of the death penalty in the subsequent stages of the case.".

So the article which the liberals are using to prove Yakub's 'innocence' itself clearly says he was involved in the conspiracy carried out by ISI.Then where does the question of innocence arise? Yakub was given a fair trial. He had 22 years of time to prove his innocence.Death penalty will be awarded only after thorough investigation. He was given death sentence in 2003, which means after a 10 year investigation,he was awarded death penalty and he had 12 more years to prove his innocence. The following image from the The New Indian Express explains it all.

Just because someone has surrendered,it doesn't mean they should be let off.If the crime deserves a death penalty, the criminal will be given death sentence. Before sympathizing for people like Yakub Memon, spare some time for the families of 257 people who died in the serial blasts. Moreover though Raman says,as Yakub's conduct was good post July 1994 and there should be second thought on death penalty to him,it is not necessary to reconsider the punishment awarded. What Raman wrote in his article was just his opinion.Merit of the evidence and the impact of the crime will only decide the punishment, not the personal opinions of investigating officers.

Let us assume that Yakub was let off based on Mr.Raman's 'certificate' that his conduct was good post July 1994.What if he commits an even bigger crime after being let off? What is the guarantee that he wont do that again?Think..

The review petition on death sentence was rejected by the Supreme Court in 2013 itself, which means when Dr.Manmohan Singh was PM,which means there was a secular govt.On what basis these people accuse Modi sarkar and color the verdict 'saffron'?Its contempt of court. As usual the Muslim card is also being used.If they can ask such a question that was Yakub hanged because he was a Muslim? ,then they owe an answer for these questions as well, 'are these people supporting terrorists and terrorist activities?are these people supporting a terrorist because he is a Muslim?". One more info - statistics says, out of 1414 convicts only 72 were Muslims and 1342 were Hindus.

"..a new report by Death Penalty Research Project of the National Law University (NLU), Delhi shows that of the 1,414 prisoners in the available list of convicts hanged in post-Independence India, only 72 are Muslims—not even 5 per cent of the total executions..." - source-click-here

All these Muslim card-victim card and all will not work out dear liberals.

My appeal to sensible people, let the law take its own course, don't believe the false propaganda of pseudo-liberals and pseudo-seculars.Yakub's criminal culpability was proved beyond doubt. If you have any questions about this issue, you can post it in the comments section.

Memon brothers and the Mumbai blasts

I have been going through a moral dilemma in my mind ever since I read in the media about the sentencing of Yakub Memon to death by the court, which tried the accused in the Mumbai blasts of March 1993, and his tantrums in the court after the death sentence was pronounced.

Right though the trial, he has been claiming that he was not arrested in Old Delhi as stated by the prosecution, but in Kathmandu, Nepal. This was disputed by the prosecution, which asked for the severest penalty against him and others, who were sentenced to death. All those sentenced to death have the right of appeal to the higher court and to petition the President of India for clemency if their appeals are rejected.

I have been repeatedly asking myself: Should I write this article? Would I be a moral coward if I did not do so? Would the entire case get unravelled if I wrote it? Would the undoubtedly guilty escape punishment as a result of my writing it? Would my article be adversely viewed by the court? Would I be committing contempt of court? It is impossible to have definitive answers to these questions. Ultimately, I decided to write this in the belief that it is important to prevent a person, who in my view does not deserve to be hanged, from going to the gallows.

As the head of the counter-terrorism division of the Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW), I had dealt with the external aspects of the investigation between March 1993 and my retirement on August 31, 1994. I like to believe that my work, with the help of some outstanding field officers of R&AW, was highly appreciated by P V Narasimha Rao, the then prime minister, who described our contribution to the investigation of the external aspects as worth its weight in gold.

I was disturbed to notice that some mitigating circumstances in the case of Yakub Memon and some other members of the family were probably not brought to the notice of the court by the prosecution and that the prosecution did not suggest to the court that these circumstances should be taken into consideration while deciding on the punishment to be awarded to them. In their eagerness to obtain the death penalty, the fact that there were mitigating circumstances do not appear to have been highlighted.

It was an outstanding piece of investigation by the Mumbai police and the Central Bureau of Investigation, with the excellent help of the IB. The nation ought to be proud of the officers who handled the investigation and prosecution, for their outstanding success in painstakingly collecting all the relevant evidence and placing before the court a watertight case.

The aura surrounding them would have shone even brighter had they taken the initiative in underlining before the court that there were some mitigating circumstances and that keeping those circumstances in view, they would refrain from asking for the death penalty even though perpetrators of such barbaric acts of terrorism deserve the death penalty.

The prosecution was right in saying that Yakub was arrested in Old Delhi. Yakub was right in claiming that he was not arrested in Old Delhi. In July 1994, some weeks before my retirement, he was informally picked up in Kathmandu, with the help of the Nepal police, driven across Nepal to a town in Indian territory, flown to Delhi by an aircraft of the Aviation Research Centre and formally arrested in Old Delhi by the investigating authorities and taken into custody for interrogation. The entire operation was coordinated by me.

He had come to Kathmandu secretly from Karachi to consult a relative and a lawyer on the advisability of some members of the Memon family, including himself, who felt uncomfortable with Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence, returning to India and surrendering to the Mumbai police. The relative and the lawyer advised him against surrender due to a fear that justice might not be done to them. They advised Yakub to go back to Karachi.

Before he could board the flight to Karachi, he was picked up by the Nepal police on suspicion, identified and rapidly moved to India.

He cooperated with the investigating agencies and assisted them by persuading some other members of the Memon family to flee from the protection of the ISI in Karachi to Dubai and surrender to the Indian authorities. The Dubai part of the operation was coordinated by a senior officer of the IB, who was then on deputation to the ministry of external affairs. Neither the R&AW nor I had any role in the Dubai part of the operation.

The cooperation of Yakub with the investigating agencies after he was picked up informally in Kathmandu and his role in persuading some other members of the family to come out of Pakistan and surrender constitute, in my view, a strong mitigating circumstance to be taken into consideration while considering whether the death penalty should be implemented.

There is not an iota of doubt about the involvement of Yakub and other members of the family in the conspiracy and their cooperation with the ISI till July 1994. In normal circumstances, Yakub would have deserved the death penalty if one only took into consideration his conduct and role before July 1994.

But if one also takes into consideration his conduct and role after he was informally picked up in Kathmandu, there is a strong case for having second thoughts about the suitability of the death penalty in the subsequent stages of the case.

Rhythm - A memorable flashback

This is an age of netizens.A movie's fate can be known within minutes after its release. One need not even wait to find a computer to login and update the review, people have smart phones with 2G/3G data facilities.Infact some people have gone mad that they start posting scene by scene updates too thereby killing the mood of others who haven't watched the movie. Now I want to review a movie which released 15 years ago.I have mentioned the movie name in the title of this post - Rhythm,an Arjun starer directed by Vasanth.

It was holiday time for me when I watched this movie.I watched it in New Cinema Theater( Sri Krishna Palace) in Tindivanam.I went with an expectation of watching some fun-filled action entertainer.I ended up with Rhythm.I had no patience as the reaction of the audience influenced me too.I felt its a painfully slow boring movie. The main reason for watching this movie was songs.A R Rahman was at his peak when this movie got released and Vasanth said in some interviews that there are 5 songs representing the 'pancha boothas(Five prime elements of nature)' - land, water, air, sky and fire. This created an expectation in me and I went to theater. After few months I watched the same movie in sun tv - alone. I understood the movie and fell in love with it.Let me explain this sequence later in this article, now my focus shifts to movie.

Movie starts with the song for water - 'Nadhiye nadhiye'.The main characters involved are Arjun, his parents,Meena, her son and actress Lakshmi. The hero-heroine meets are so natural. At the beginning,Arjun initiates chats with Meena, ofcourse naturally and Meena avoids him.Later on they become friends. This sequence is too natural that we can feel as if its happening in our day to day life. One fine day, Meena requests Arjun and his family to take care of her son for few days as she wants to go out of Mumbai for few days due to some work. Now a strong bonding develops between Arjun and the boy. In between there is a flashback for both Arjun and Meena and the twist is Arjun is a widower while Meena is a widow.Arjun's wife Jyothika and Meena's husband Ramesh Aravind, both died in the same train accident. After knowing all this, Nagesh, Arjun's father asks Meena if she was ready to marry him and she says no immediately. That ends the friendship between Arjun and Meena.

Ours is a society where women has lot of restrictions.Vasanth takes on all the social restrictions imposed on women. He doesn't preach the audience with 10 page dialogues that women are this and that and we should worship them, celebrate them, bla bla bla..Meena's husband is shown as someone belonging to a wannabe orthodox Brahmin family. His ambition was to adopt an orphan kid and wants his wife to consider that kid as their first child. His mom,Lakshmi,an old fashioned traditional mom is not ready to accept this. She neither accepts her son's love.Ramesh Aravind and Meena marries without the permission of Ramesh Aravind's parents.Fate plays its part and hours after the marriage Ramesh goes to meet his mom hearing that she is ill.Lakshmi refuses to meet him and sends him out without even blessing him a happy married life.Ramesh travels back in train.

The other flashback shows as Arjun working in bomb squad and he loves his profession so much.He loves his wife like anything and while watching the movie one may feel that Karthik and Aruna(Arjun and Jyothika) are the happiest couple.Even the impatient audience in that small theater enjoyed the Arjun-Jyothika sequence. One day Jyothika expresses her fear about her husband's job to Ajay Rathnam,Arjun's close friend. She doesn't want to say anything about it to her husband, because she knows how much he loves that job and she loves her husband even more.Again fate plays its role here.Ajay gets brutally injured while diffusing a bomb and he conveys the fear expressed by Jyothika to Arjun. He understands it and immediately resigns his job.He loves his wife more than his job.He doesn't want his wife to be worried. He informs Jyothika about his resignation through a phone call.Jyothika was in her friend's marriage. On hearing this from her husband, out of excitement she immediately leaves to Chennai to meet Arjun. She gets into a train.

Now both the trains clash with each other and Ramesh and Jyothika dies.Meena adopts a kid from the orphanage(Shivananda Gurukulam) where Ramesh was serving and names him Shiva as a token of love and respect for her husband. She gets her husband's bank job.Her in-laws refuse to accept her and she takes care of the kid all alone.Shiva became too close to Arjun. The society is not only with good people. It has its own share of selfish, bad, ugly and cruel people too.One such person is living in Meena's neighborhood.

In our society young/middle-aged widows and divorcees are soft target for men. They want to exploit the biological emotions of these women. They will not marry these women but are ready to do everything else. When you talk about marrying them, you will get all the lectures of tradition, culture etc etc etc. Now,the neighbor attempts to rape Meena and she escapes from him. There is a scene following this like Arjun fighting with the neighbor and this fellow migrates with his family from his residence. This scene is added keeping Arjun's action hero image in mind. But thats just 5 minutes and its alright.Meena meets a priest who seems to be her well-wisher.She openly expresses her fear of being alone. The attempt-to-rape incident has created a sense of fear in her.She has a responsibility with her in the form of Shiva. The priest advises her to marry again.Director speaks through this priest.A short but powerful conversation.

He says,"you should marry again,if not for you, atleast for your kid.Why are you not accepting for another marriage?Do you think its a betrayal to your husband? If your husband loved you really will he be happy to see you suffering like this throughout your life? Those days when my grandfather died, they burnt my grandmother as well along with him.Doesn't it appear foolish now?Likewise things has to change.Just because someone we like has died, it doesn't mean our life is over with them.Death is not the end".This the director is not advising to Meena, but to the society. He asks the society to treat women equally through these dialogues.

A disturbed Meena thinks about this.Though she refused to marry Arjun, somewhere deep inside her mind she too wants someone like Arjun to take care of her.She wants someone who understands her well, someone who will consider her son as his son.In short she wants to marry someone for whom love is more than just love-making.There is a scene which shows the boy crying to meet Arjun. Now Meena decides. She says,"will you be happy if we all - you,me,Karthik sir(Arjun) and his parents live in the same house?" and the boy happily says yes.Had Arjun married Meena with this scene, the movie might have ended soon and the audience might not have complained about the length. But that would have been incomplete. So there is more. Meena calls Arjun and asks him to meet her.Now she is all set to propose him and convey the decision about marriage. She blushes again. There is a beautiful song for this situation - 'thaniye thannanthaniye naan kaathu kaathu nindren'.

Meena comes back. She is in for a shock. Her mother-in-law,Lakshmi is sitting inside the house with Shiva. She is shocked. That's it.She doesn't show anyother emotion on her face. She does not angrily push her mother-in-law out of her house. She casually greets her. Serves her food with total respect. After eating Lakshmi cries loud. She says because she refused to meet Ramesh on that fateful day,he met with an accident and she killed her own son.She is moved by her daughter-in-law's gesture to serve food and treat her with respect. She asks her to quit the job and come to her native to live together. The old lady feels she was not fortunate to live with her son for a long time and she wants to spend her remaining life with her grandson and daughter-in-law.Meena with a heavy heart agrees to it.She leaves with Lakshmi and Shiva, gets into train.Meanwhile Arjun is waiting for Meena. He is waiting. She notices him.She cares for him.She wants to get down and explain her situation to him. But something restricts her.She feels it awkward to do so infront of her mother-in-law.With tears in her eyes she leaves without even informing him.Arjun is still waiting. He waits for a long time.

Thank God Vasanth didn't end the movie like this to show Meena as a woman who has not deviated from the so called tradition. There is more.Meena is not selfish. She wanted to marry Arjun not only for security reasons, but also out of love. Her love was true too.The news about a bomb blast in Mumbai Indian Express office (Arjun works for Indian Express) sends a chill down her spine. She immediately makes a phone call to the Indian Express office and inquires about Arjun. She is relieved after knowing that he is fine.

Now Arjun meets Meena in Ooty, this is mere coincidence.Lakshmi learns about how Arjun's wife died and invites him to her home.Arjun agrees to it.Finally Arjun and Meena gets the much needed privacy as Lakshmi has gone to school to pick up Shiva. Now Meena makes a confession. She explains everything to him.She says she called him to say yes to the marriage and the events that followed has brought her here. Finally she says, even now if I don't say this, you will never ask, because you are so good (ipo kooda naanaa idha sollalanaa neenga idha kettirukka maatinga, ennaa neenga romba nallavar :-) ). Finally Lakshmi comes to know about the marriage plan through Shiva. She requests Arjun to marry Meena and says she is not an outdated woman(pazhaya panchangam) atleast in this matter. Meena needs someone like you to take care of her throughout the life. The movie happily ends with Meena and Arjun walking having Shiva in between them.

I used to wonder what made me like this movie after 6 months.Till now I haven't found a convincing answer for this.Probably I should have watched the movie patiently without getting influenced by the activities of people around. What went wrong with this movie that it failed in box office? Some charismatic actor instead of Ramesh Aravind might have worked out.Someone like Mounaragam Karthik.Otherwise no complaints about this movie at all. Vasanth has beautifully explained the feelings of a woman. The poetic love sequences with a lovely music makes this movie one of my all-time favorites :-). By the time am publishing this post,it will be February 14 - Valentine's day.Yes this is a Valentine's day special.

I could have written some usual girl-boy-love related stuff. But I wanted to attempt something different.I wanted to write something so that the misogynistic boys/men understands the feelings of girls/women.I want to strongly express my opinion that love is more than love-making.Love is much more than kissing on road.I know you all have watched Rhythm so many times in KTV.Still I wanted to use this movie as a medium to convey certain things.

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Gharwapsi - Conversions - The Counter Point

The hashtag #Gharwapsi was trending in top 2 places for more than 3 days in twitter. What is Gharwapsi? If we translate literally,it means homecoming. But the context in which Gharwapsi is used here is returning to the religion from which one got converted to.This Gharwapsi includes people whose ancestors got converted before 400-500 years too.The allegation is that pro-Hindu outfits like Bajrang Dal offered ration cards and money to convert Muslims as Hindus. While these charges doesn't have any concrete evidence, whats really funny is the voice of secular parties against conversions.

What were you all doing all these years? Were you all blind or deaf? In 2002,the then Tamil Nadu govt led by Ms.J Jayalalithaa, enforced the anti-conversion law which banned forceful conversions. The moment that law was introduced the minority groups were jumping to earth and sky as if some anti-minority law was introduced.Schools run by Christian missionaries declared holidays to show their protest against this law.Several processions were taken by these schools involving the children studying in their schools. Not a single secular party or news channel condemned this. One or two newspapers and magazines, which has guts, like The New Indian Express and Thuglak alone condemned it.

Now DMK Chief Mr.Karunanidhi says Modi govt should protect secularism.Let me explain what this great man did when he was in power. After the ADMK lost all the 40 seats(TN and Pondicherry) in 2004 Lok Sabha elections ,Jayalalithaa issued orders cancelling the anti-conversion law.The law was cancelled in 2004 itself. But after Mr.Karunanidhi came to power in 2006,he again brought a resolution in assembly to cancel the anti-conversion law which was already cancelled. So this man ensured that forceful conversions doesn't get banned at any cost. What will Karunanidhi do? He is afterall a political actor who would do anything to get votes. The great Pope John Paul - II condemned the anti-conversion laws and said there is no religious freedom in India.Ofcourse the iron-lady of Tamil Nadu, the then Chief Minister Jayalalithaa gave a fitting reply to Pope.

Pope Paul John II has no authority to speak on the law enacted by democratically elected governments

http://articles.economictimes.indiatimes.com/2003-06-14/news/27521068_1_anti-conversion-laws-religious-conversions-bjp-s-tamil-nadu

The media then projected Jaya as anti-minority face. The stand of minority sympathizers and wannabe secular media is laughable. They are constantly branding BajrangDal as some terrorist organization.BajrangDal may be an extremist Hindu group, but neither the TV channels nor the activists expose the reality behind the activities of BajrangDal.There was a Hindu saint Swamy Lakshmanananda. He was offering help to tribal Hindus. The Christian missionaries which works day and night in tribal areas were not happy with him. There were 9 attempts to kill this Swamy by Maoists/Naxalites.Finally one day he was killed. The conversions started happening without any difficulty. The BajrangDal started reconverting those who were converted by the missionaries. And the trouble starts here, converting someone by offering jobs, money etc etc is fine with our intellectual society but reconverting the same people by following the same approach is a crime. This happened way back in 2008-09. I am bringing this incident to justify my stand that the media is always biased.

There were issues of Hindu girls getting converted to Islam and it was termed Love Jihad.Media says its false propaganda by Hindu outfits. Then what would you call the case of Tara Shahdeo? I can show so many examples of marriage conversions in India.May be the word Jihad was used for a reason by some pro-Hindu groups. That is a different topic to be discussed in detail, am not going into that now.Let me stick to 'marriage conversions'.If a Hindu boy falls in love with a Muslim/Christian girl, the boy will get converted to Islam/Christianity. If a Muslim/Christian boy falls in love with a Hindu girl, again the girl will get converted to Islam/Christianity.So what should we call this?Ofcourse am not denying the fact that there are liberals in all religions. There are couples who follow their respective religions even after marriage - agreed. But very less in number. What I wrote above me branded as my opinion, that is why I mentioned Tara Shahdeo's name.

"After marriage Tara Shadeo, claimed, she had found that Kohli's real name was Raqibul Hasan Khan. She said in her complaint that she was tortured for over a month to accept her husband's religion. "

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Love-jihad-National-shooter-Tara-Shahdeos-husband-arrested/articleshow/40942634.cms

Those who are protesting against the Gharwapsi, never bothered to condemn these activities. The hue and cry against Hindu outfits is purely opportunistic and atrocious.Just go through the below link.

Neither the Indian press nor the western correspondents bothered to write about what made Hindus angry in Karnataka: Newlife, one important westernfunded missionary centre ( http://www.newlifevoice.org), began making conversions in and around Mangalore by accosting poor people in market areas, or in bus stands, befriending them and then taking them to churches to introduce them to the father.
Upon introduction they were paid Rs 2,500 per person and then taken to the Velankanni shrine, in Tamil Nadu, where they would get another Rs. 3,000.
When they finally converted to Christianity by changing the name, they got an incentive of Rs 10,000 onwards.
Newlife would then give them instructions to abandon wearing tilak on forehead, not to visit and offer prayers at the Hindu temples, replacing the photos and idols of Hindu gods and goddesses with a Cross, etc.
But what really angered local Hindus was when Newlife went one step further and published a book in Kannada — Satya Darshini — which was widely distributed by its missionaries. Here below is the translation of some of the most abusive passages:

“Since Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva were themselves victims of lust, it is a sin to consider them as Gods. (page 39).
When the Trinity of Hinduism (Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva) are consumed by lust and anger, how can they liberate others? The projection of them as Gods is nothing but a joke. (page 39). God, please liberate the sinful people of India who are worshipping False Gods. (Page 39).”
In Tripura, there were no Christians at the time of independence. There are 1,20,000 today, a 90 per cent increase since 1991. The figures are even more striking in Arunachal Pradesh, where there were only 1,710 Christians in 1961, but 1.2 million today, as well as 780 churches! In Andhra Pradesh, churches are coming up every day in far-flung villages and there was even an attempt to set up one near Tirupati.
Christians in India like to say that they are only two per cent and can do no harm. But it is a sham: in the Tamil Nadu coastal belt from Chennai to Kanyakumari, there must be now 10 per cent Christians posttsunami and the same may be true in other parts of south India.
What was written in that book is widely preached in some non-Hindu religious places. They call Hindus as Kafirs. They say Hindus follow the practice of idol-worship and it is superstition. They openly print pamphlets stating Hindus are sinners and only their religion can save people from idol worship.Post Tsunami, the number of churches and Christians has increased to a great extent in Tamil Nadu. How can this happen?Well, such pamphlets were also distributed in Tirumala Tirupathi.Just read this news.

The proselytise menace has raised its ugly head at Tirumala yet again the holy abode of Lord Venkateswara as an ‘Evangelism at Tirumala,’ a video footage went viral on Wednesday. A video footage named ‘Christian Missionaries active in Tirumala and also converting kids’ sent shockwaves not only among millions of devotees of Lord Venkateswara, worldwide, but also the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams which administers the Tirumala temple, considered the most sacred pilgrim centre of Hindu worship in the world.

http://www.deccanchronicle.com/141030/nation-current-affairs/article/video-%E2%80%98evangelism-tirumala%E2%80%99-goes-viral

What were all the Television channels doing when these incidents happened? Why did they not raise their voice against forceful conversions and inducements?

Don't read this article only on religious perspective alone. There are Dalit Muslims and Dalit Christians in India. How come Islam and Christianity have 'Dalits'?The SC quota applies to only Hindu Dalits not to the converted. The missionaries and Islamic leaders convert Dalits by referring to the caste system followed in Hinduism. They claim there is no such discrimination in Islam/Christianity and the Dalits will be taken care properly in their religions. Then why do you demand SC quota? The SC quota was provided for the upliftment of Dalits whose rights were crushed by some so-called upper caste people. We all know how Dalits were treated in olden days. They were not allowed to enter temples, they were not provided proper education etc.Even today considerable level of discrimination exists. It was for their upliftment the SC quota was introduced and am very much in favor of reservation to these people but not to the converted Dalits. Providing reservation to converted dalits will increase conversion and at one point of time Hindus will become minorities(or may become history) in India.

Are the converted people ready to give in writing that they don't want any quota and are ready to compete in open general category?

Having said this,I am totally against converting anyone.I would be glad if the Modi sarkar brings an anti-conversion law to ban all the forceful conversions.More importantly we need a strong law to check the source of funds to all religious organizations. If a religious body fails to provide proper documents for the funds received, the govt should seize the funds and ban the religious body right away.I know all those shouting against this Gharwapsi will not accept this at all.If this bill is introduced, they will again shout.

I am only against selective news reporting and anti-Hindu activities in the name of secularism and not against any religion.

Kashmir Calls - An Opportunity to Contribute

As we all know, there are floods in Kashmir.Already 250 people were confirmed dead and still hundreds of people or even thousands of people are trapped. The Indian Army is doing a great job to rescue them all. Some arrogant victims are throwing stones at them. The army has patiently ignored this and said they want to rescue everyone trapped in the floods. It will cost a lot for rehabilitation. The Prime Minister has visited the floods and declared this as national disaster.A responsible newspaper, The New Indian Express(TNIE) has provided an opportunity for all of us to contribute. The New Indian Express has started by donating 2.5 lakhs. It has also urged its readers to contribute.Every single rupee matters. One individual may not contribute in lakhs. But together we can make a difference. If 1000 people can contribute 100 each,it becomes 1 lakh.If we contribute even 1 rupee, that will be of great help. Our contributions may be too small like a small drop but together we can make it as large as an ocean.

TNIE is the best daily in India and am sure the funds will be sent to PM relief fund. Don't stop with just transferring an amount, share this information.Spread this to as many people as possible. I believe people from any country can contribute.

If you wish to contribute,go through the details below.I believe almost all the netizens will be having a bank account with online banking facility.Transferring the amount online will not be a difficult task for sure.

More than 250 people are confirmed dead in the flood fury that has devastated Kashmir. Tens of thousands of men, women and children are displaced, their lives shattered, their future thrown into disarray. Never in living memory has such an overwhelming tragedy overtaken the state. Kashmir weeps.
The rest of us in India need to rush to the aid of our fellow citizens caught in what the Prime Minister described as a national disaster.
We have started a New Indian Express Kashmir Relief Fund with an initial contribution of Rs 2.5 lakh by the NIE Group. It is easy for you to join this initiative:

  • Cheques drawn in the name of The New Indian Express Kashmir Relief Fund may be handed over to any office of the NIE Group in any city.
  • Contributions in cash may be given to any NIE office and a receipt obtained on the spot.
  • Online contributions may be sent directly to Indian Bank Current Account No.6260119197, in the name of The New Indian Express Kashmir Relief Fund, SWIFT-Code:IDIBINBBPAD/IFSC Code:IDIB000P001.  The details of the contributions made may be sent to kashmirrelieffund@newindianexpress.com.

All contributions will be acknowledged in the columns of the paper. The Fund will eventually be handed over to the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund for use in Jammu & Kashmir.
Kashmir is in distress. It's our duty to help.

Poisonous Media

It has been 2 months(approximately) since the BJP came to power. Till now the Indian media couldn't get any worthy news.So all these days they were giving extra importance to rapes. We will not be surprised if any TV channel starts a show called 'rapehour' to telecast about rapes alone. Finally they have got something for which they have been starving all these days. This is the flash news in all tv channels. A Shiv Sena MP forced a Muslim, who was fasting, to eat food.

Our television channels cooked up their own story. One channel said,he was forced to break fast.Almost all the tv channels and most of the newspapers carried out headlines as "Shiv Sena MPs force Muslim staffer to break Ramzan fast".http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/videos/news/Shocking-Shiv-Sena-MPs-force-Muslim-staffer-to-break-Ramzan-fast/videoshow/38910628.cms .

The MP's defence is that he was not aware of the staff's name and was only trying to grab the attention of the authorities to the poor quality of food served at Sadan. His defence and excuse is very much acceptable. If this is something like an incident against Muslims, one MP would not have directly fought with one Muslim staff.Personally, I have never supported Shiv Sena or the Thackreys.I condemned the arrest of 2 girls for their comment on Bal Thackrey. In this same blog,so many times I have criticized/mocked Shiv Sena. I am not a fan of their politics. But this incident only shows, how much eager the Indian media is to create tensions between Hindus and Muslims for their marketing purpose. The issue is simple - a Shiv Sena MP force-fed an employee in New Maharashtra Sadan.

Shiv Sena's official mouth piece Saamna has carried out an article defending the MP.It says the MP was not aware of the fact that the employee was a Muslim. It further argues, the media didn't mention that the person who raped a school girl in Bangalore was a Muslim.

Recently, a Muslim teacher in Bangalore raped a small girl in the school even after having roza, but media is not speaking about this.

http://www.dnaindia.com/mumbai/report-media-okay-with-rape-but-not-force-feeding-uddhav-thackeray-2004852

Let it be.One may very well argue that this is Shiv Sena's official mouth-piece and may not be ready to accept what is mentioned in that article.Let us recollect an incident which happened in 2012.A school boy killed his Hindi teacher(Uma Maheswari) for complaining to his parents about his poor academic performance. He was just a 9th standard student and the fellow had come prepared to attack the teacher with a knife.

http://www.newindianexpress.com/cities/chennai/article317516.ece

What is the connection between this incident and the force-feeding incident?Let me explain.

The boy who killed the teacher was a Muslim. His name is Mohammed Irfan. Not a single newspaper or television channel carried out headlines like 'Muslim boy murders school teacher'.It only said, school boy murders teacher. And this bold newspaper The Hindu which is jumping to earth and sky today against the force-feeding incident, didn't even mention the boy's name then.It only reported,

A teacher was stabbed to death in the classroom of a private school here on Thursday, allegedly by a 15-year-old student who was upset at being repeatedly reprimanded by her for not doing well in studies.

http://www.thehindu.com/news/cities/chennai/student-stabs-teacher-to-death-in-chennai-school/article2874995.ece

This is yet another example for our media's hypocrisy. The Hindu's(Tamil) facebook page has shared the statement of Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah.Omar asks, what will be the reaction of Shiv Sena and BJP MPs if a non-muslim vegetarian is forced to eat meat?Well, the Hindu has always remained un-Hindu.By sharing such news items selectively, these tv channels and newspapers create enmity between the 2 religions and they make money out of this enmity.

So many times I felt this - most the Indian media are against Hindus. The way our media reported this incident, only confirms this.

Gaza Attacks - The other side

What is hypocrisy? When Hamas launched rockets on Israel and civilians in Israel were affected,we never bothered.. Here not many knows that it is Hamas who attack Israel often. When Israel has decided to take on Hamas,we started projecting ourselves as victims. We antagonized Israel to such an extent of sharing fake pictures and videos as if the Israel military is killing women and children. This false propaganda is more poisonous than the most poisonous snake.

The Boko Haram terrorists have gained an upper hand in Nigeria and their atrocities has instilled a sense of fear among innocent civilians there.Boko Haram means western education is sin.Well the sympathizers/victims/martyrs/secularists give a false reason that Israel is carrying out all attacks on Palestine to occupy the land, what reason will these martyrs or sympathizers give for the atrocities in Ngeria? The Islamic terror groups killed non-Muslims in Nairobi shopping complex.

"..Then an Indian man came forward and they said, 'What is the name of Muhammad's mother?' When he couldn't answer they just shot him."

http://www.christianitytoday.com/gleanings/2013/september/al-shabaab-nairobi-kenya-westgate-mall-somalia.html?paging=off

None of our sympathizers, who are so much disturbed about the attacks by Israel army in Palestine, raised their voice when incidents like this happened.Even worst case, the Boko Haram terrorists kidnapped 300 school girls and have threatened to push them into prostitution. What is the motive of these terrorists? They just want people in these countries to follow only Islam.

These are also incidents of international importance where lot of innocent civilians including women and children were killed. We were not aware of all these incidents.Or we pretend to be unaware of.When a country launches counter-attack on a terrorist organization,we are outraged. All our emotions come out.

Let us see what these 'emotions' hide.First of all,Israel is not carrying out these attacks to occupy Palestine. Actually it is the other way around. The Palestinians call themselves Jihadis and they fight against Israel. Against whom you people are carrying out Jihad? What is the motive of this Jihad?Well the below link provides proper details about this issue.

Israel received independence in 1948. The Muslim ethnic group of Israel were told by their leaders to leave the country because of the influx of Jews coming to the land from the Nazi Holocaust. While Israel absorbed all Jewish refugees coming into the land these Muslim ethnics were not absorbed by any of their Arab brother countries which occupy much vast territories compares to tiny state of Israel.  Ultimately these Muslims then returned to Israel and Israelis gave them visas for work in the country. They established themselves to live in the country in West bank and GAZA strip but ultimately started identifying and asserting themselves as ‘Palestinian’ with a demand for a separate homeland (a common trait found in Muslims e.g. partition of India , Cyprus ,Bangladesh etc.) Meanwhile the Arabs who did not flee Israel continued to live in Israel.

False Propaganda: Is the biggest and oldest weapon of radical Muslims; they always play themselves as Victims or Martyrs and always successfully make the masses sympathetic to their situation. So much so that usually Hollywood shows them as heroes in various films.

In fact, their propaganda is so perfect that the worlds is lead to believe that Israel a land with no natural resources and successful only on its own merit has more money and owns   the entire media ; that they're obviously teeming with riches. in reality it's the oil rich Arab countries who are actually influencing world media and financing jihad all over the world , and ends up showing Israelis as 'evil Zionists'.

http://shankhnaad.net/index.php/94-international-geopolitics/92-roots-of-israel-palestine-conflict

The argument that no media ever shows attack on Palestinians by Israel is typical false propaganda to gain sympathy in the international arena. The hamas thinks by projecting themselves as victims they can bring ceasefire in Palestine with the help of international bodies like UN.The hamas has been carrying out attacks on Israel for quite a long time and Israel has launched counter-attacks.No nation can tolerate constant attacks on its civilians by a terrorist organization.Israel decided to keep a full stop to the hamas terrorist group.

Before launching any attacks in Gaza strip, the Israel army provides prior information well in advance to the civilians there to vacate the place to avoid civilian deaths. But the hamas terrorist group doesn't allow these civilians to move out and they use them as human shields. The false propaganda is so cruel that the facebook warriors share a pic like an army man is having gun in his hand and is all set to kill a kid and its mother. The hypocrisy has gone to such an extent that nowadays they started praising Hitler and his act of killing Jews. For these guys Narendra Modi and Hitler are same and their logic is that Hitler killed Jews and Modi killed Muslims. Now the logic changed or it has been modified. Now they ignored the Modi part and modified the Hitler part alone.A pic in facebook was doing rounds which says that Hitler left some Jews alive and said that the world will know how dangerous these Jews are.At the bottom of the picture, there is a line which says - 'We need Hitler back'.Did Hitler ever say that?Do you people have any authentic proof for that?

See the below video. Israeli pilot abandons a planned air strike due to the presence of civilians.

http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/182814#.U8FCKJRX-uY

Well this cannot be done always. But this video only shows the Israel army actually targets only the terrorist groups and not the civilians. On the other hand, see what the hamas spokesperson says.He claims using civilians as human shields is a strategy and is proud that it worked out in halting the attacks.

So the strategy is clear. The hamas wants a separate homeland and for that they carry out attacks on Israel. The Israel, which has the best self defense, decided to launch a powerful attack on hamas and keep a full stop to the terrorist organization. They want the civilians to move out to a safe zone so that it will be easy for them to attack the hamas. Now the hamas are playing the victim card by using the innocent civilians as human shields and their aim is to halt the attacks on them and on the other hand they will continue to fire rockets on Israel.

(Ir)Responsible Indian Media

Before the election date was announced, our media was too sincere and honest in reporting atleast few rapes a day.Once the election campaigns gained momentum, our responsible media forgot the rapes and rapists and started covering Kejriwal,Rahul Gandhi and Narendra Modi. Now the elections are over. The media is back to business. For the past 1 week most of the time, almost all the television channels were telecasting only rape news. To be apt,Uttar Pradesh got exclusive rape coverage.

Well,I don't think there is any politics in this coverage as the English media has been doing this for quite a long time. For media, TRP is more important than anything else. This can be easily seen from the usage of hashtags like #VaranasiBlock,#MegaExitPoll etc. Most of the tv channels and newspapers have a sick mentality that they give importance to sensationalism over sense.Let me ask a simple question - are rapes happening only in UP?Now if anyone is reading this post might call me a chauvinist. The media has brainwashed our internet generation so much that exposing the other side of coin itself is a sin. However, I have some more questions.By creating a pandemonium, will the rapes stop automatically? Is rape the only happening incident in India?Nowadays in offices, hotels and some other places where a reasonable crowd gathers,it has become a fashion to keep a TV.Unfortunately, they only keep Times Now or NDTV. The same news will be repeated 'n' number of times in the name of breaking/flash news. The word flash news lost its value because of these channels. It is highly irritating to see only rapes in the name of breaking news.

The most unfortunate part of these rape coverage is the irresponsible and adamant behavior of politicians. Here we have a democratically elected Chief Minister, who when questioned about rapes in his state, instead of promising to take action, responds the journalist arrogantly 'you are safe, aren't you?'.His father was an even noble gentleman who during elections itself said we should go soft on rapists. The problem is such statements actually will become more popular and for the sake of TRP, our media has covered UP extensively.Well,I am not here to support rapes or the irresponsible govt in UP.Personally I feel its better to dismiss the UP govt citing the law and order. There is nothing wrong in dismissing the govt.

According to UP home department sources, in major districts of UP, particularly those under the influence of the ruling Yadav family, nearly 60% police stations are headed by Yadav officers. In Badaun, where two minor girls were raped and hanged, 16 out of 22 police stations are headed by Yadav officers. Badaun is represented by chief minister Akhilesh Yadav's cousin Dharmendra Yadav in the Lok Sabha. Also, all five men accused of rape and murder of the two teenagers are Yadavs

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Yadavization-of-UP-cops-behind-anarchy/articleshow/36165826.cms

The above information clearly suggests the reason for lawlessness in UP.How will the crime rate come down, if the police favors the guilty in the name of caste?

My point is lot of Akhilesh Yadavs are there in India and so many rapes happen every day.Creating an awareness is fine, but creating a pandemonium is not.The TV channels can conduct an exclusive program to create an awareness.Instead of projecting India as a rapist nation, our media should cover the positive aspects of our country as well.Sometimes people argue that rapes happen only in India and western countries are like heaven. But statistics doesn't support this argument.

While in the UK, a country which has less than 1/20th of India’s population, the total rapes top 95,000, the rapes in India in 2008, according to the report of the Central Statistics Office, Government of India, were far fewer—20,771. The US is similar to the UK. The reported rapes in the US in 2006 were 212,000. If unreported rapes are added, only 5 per cent of rapists ever spend a day in jail in the US (National Center for Policy Analysis US Report No. 229). One of six US women has experienced attempted or completed rape (Colorado Coalition Against Sexual Assault: Statistics).

The rape record of ‘civilised and developed’ countries
US
44% of victims are under age 18.
80% are under age 30.
Every 2 minutes, someone in the US is sexually assaulted.
There is an average of 207,754 victims (age 12 or older) of
sexual assault each year.
54% of sexual assaults are not reported to the police.
97% of rapists will never spend a day in jail.
Approximately 2/3 of assaults are committed by someone known to the victim.
38% of rapists are a friend or acquaintance.
UK
Less than one rape victim in 30 can expect to see her or his attacker brought to justice.
About 1,000 rapists are convicted every year.
90 per cent of rape victims said they knew the identity of their attacker.
15 per cent went to the police.
Between 60,000 and 95,000 people are estimated to be raped each year.
About one woman in 200 has been a victim in the last one year.
1 in 38 major sex crime leads to a conviction for the offence.
2 years is the average time taken for a court verdict when the accused contests the allegations.

Just because rapes occur everywhere, one cannot justify it.I have supported death sentence to rapists irrespective of age and I stand by it.At the same time, the sick attitude of mainstream media in India is something to be worried about.Because of media reports about only rapes, Ban ki Moon, secretary general of United Nations has expressed shock over recent rapes in India. But he was not aware of what was happening in western nations(read the points above) it seems. This reaction is nothing but an impact of our responsible media's rape coverage for TRPs.Unless and until our media changes this attitude of exposing only the dark side of nation to get TRPs,India will only be looked upon as a third world nation.
